I'm aware of the importance of having a washer on the backing plate thanks to some great posts here. In my recent AG order both the W67DA and the backing plate included with the G110v2 came with washers. But there's also a washer the same diameter but twice as thick that came in a small plastic bag. If it's a spare, why is it thicker?

Things that do my head in!

I'm going to take an educated guess, and say that it was included to perhaps accomodate other possible aftermarket backing plates that have possibly larger rivet heads that protrude further than usual.

To then insure that the rivets do not contact-rub the Counterweight of the DA.

As Mark said, the main job of the washer is to insure the rivets DO NOT hit the head. Just use the one that works.

Also, it may be that your set-up may work without the washer...still use the washer. It also helps the keep the backing plate from 'freezing' onto spindle.

I know with a couple BPs for my PC the rivets will bind the wrench against the counterweight making it difficult to impossible to remove the wrench. I use two washers in this situation. Like stated that is probably what the thicker washer is for. Nice that it was provided with your DA.

Thanks for the answers. Good to know what it's there for!
