This car belongs to a client that I have worked for on several occasions in the past. As soon as he purchased this 2009 Ferrari F430, he knew it needed some love by a professional. The car had some RIDS, light swirls and hologramming from a previous amateur detailer. It also had white wax residue in several locations on the car. The owner opted for my "Presidential" Detail Package to ensure the car was brought up to the standards a Ferrari like this should be at.

Wheels

This car gets driven pretty hard, creating a good layer of brake dust on the wheels.

Engine

The engine only need a light cleaning and was treated with 303 AeroSpace Protectant.

I then began prepping for the polishing step, removing the license plate so that I could properly clean and polish the rear bumper.
2009-Ferarri-F430-062.jpg

The left over wax residue was removed from all crevices using IPA and a cue tip.

The car was then clayed to remove any remaining contaminants before polishing.
2009-Ferarri-F430-068.jpg

Once the car was clayed, I pulled it outside to see exactly what I would be dealing with for correction. The car wasn't in the worst shape, but we were seeking perfection with this detail.

A small hit and run while in a parking lot left this damage on the rear bumper.

I was able to remove about 99% of the defect with a quick spot sanding using 2000 grit and polishing with M105/PFW pad.

The defects were showing their face under the halogen lighting.

Applying the first coat of Blackfire Wet Diamond Paint Sealant. This product leaves an incredible deep shine and an almost unreal buttery smooth feel to the vehicle paint.

Tucked away neatly until the owner arrives home to enjoy his freshly detailed F430!

One of my favorite modern Ferrari designs. You did an incredible job on that black paint. Out of curiosity, how soft was the paint?

Thanks, the paint was pretty soft, but still needed attention in some areas with deeper RIDS.

:wow:
Awesome work and great job. Pictures were excellent as well.:xyxthumbs:

Was this the same owner as the IS-F?

Awesome job, one thing. The exhaust tips, they look dirty from the pics or are they just a satin color?

Excellent job with good explanation and pictures to describe each step. Amazing results.

For a minute I thought Barry Theal moved to Florida. Car looks good though.

If you were to place this beauty, and a 458 Italia in front of me, told me to pick one for free, but only one, I think that would be the hardest decision that I'd ever had to make in my life.

I'd probably come away with the 430! (Although I have nothing at all against the 458) Just un-freaking drop dead beautiful this sports car is!

In defense of the past detailer:
Looks like that person wasn't "too harmful" to the vehicle. You might consider that any swirl on the finish was possibly created by the owner. Or, another person who came by, to wash off any dusts, etc. That the left over treats of wax residues are often very hard to see within moments of application, and wipe off. They often set in later, and show up more prominently. That even butter soft, luxurious waxes like WG Fuzion can possibly show such a couple weeks later.

That, and fighting time, we're all only human. That person missed something, and you probably have as well. That there's no way to actually take a vehicle back like it was built in Ferarri heaven, without any "human induced flaws".

None the less, and forgive me for speaking a bit bluntly in the last paragraph if it appears so. You've done a drop dead gorgeous job of meeting a demand, and need of the owner.

I know how Florida is, especially SW Florida, my mother lived in Venice for 23 years, and I was there every year on vacation. It's a relatively "easy" enviornment to keep-own such a vehicle. Rain there is almost like a free wash job.

Here in NM, you get rain, it looks like somebody dumped a bucket of mud on your vehicle, almost impossible to enjoy a councours quality show vehicle. That, and all the Gravel Roads, and poorly kept streets and roads, you'd be Dr Colorchip's best customer! LOL

Thank you for your article, and the pics! Loved them! Mark

Thanks, we do get mixed up often, thats part of the reason I put "FL" in my titles. Barry is a great guy, weve talked on several occasions in the past.

Mark, you are dead on, no offense taken at all! The paint and car in generally was in relatively good condition actually, just had wax in almost every crevice. One of the best features of BFWD is that its CLEAR! We are lucky to have the climate we do, we sometimes forget how beautiful our state is at times!

Thanks!

Oh, and btw, I know some of you have probably pointed it out and just bit your tongue, but the exhaust tips WERE cleaned AFTER I took these photos. :D Sometimes you have to mix up your strategy in order to get the photos while there is good light outside.

Damn that looks awesome! Beautiful work on a beautiful car!
