I feel Meguiars has been around so long when you tell people you use Megs products They instantly know and instill creditability what you think? I understand there are better products (Pinnacle my favorite but just doesnt have name recognition as Megs)

The other and biggest is CLAYING I will always do a clay demo 100% of the time.Creates credibility and WOW most of time.

Microfiber is another builds confidence that car will not end up with scratches and their car is getting the best care.

What you think?

I have built a nice demo presentation kit when i start sitting down with clients using Clay,Microfiber,Good smelling products, video, pics

I honestly don't tell my clients what I'm using unless they ask, which is pretty rare. Regardless of the product used, they are only as good as the person using them. ;)

I will however suggest products like waxes, sealants, coatings, dressings, ect...based on what they are looking for out of them.

To answer your question though...being an authorized installer of some coatings does generate some jobs for me. ;)

You and your work should sell the job not your name brand product. Not one of my customers ask what products I use. If they ever ask I would be happy to tell them.

I find its the tools/towels that help the most, which is rare for me...but has happened a few times. I generally dont say what products I use, just the steps and category of products I used. Sometimes it seems if you just say what brand and dont go into detail about it and it happens to be an otc brand, customer tend to not see you as a "professional" sometimes.

Customers do not care what products you use. I have customers I have not even met in person. I show up get the keys from wherever the customer left them, Pull the car out, do my thing, leave a bill and get a check a few days later.

Have you ever asked your plumber what brand hand tools he uses?

This is a tough one - nothing is really coming to mind for me. A number of years ago when the whole gourmet wax thing came to life, I had two Corvette clients who asked if I'd use Pinnacle Souveran, but I can't specifically say it got me the job. The folks above have said it well, and FWIW, I'll sign off with the adage that I never hesitate to share with potential clients:

Detailing is 90% process, 10% product.

Been saying that all along my friend, 100% agree :)

Gee I wonder why Megs has been around so long? Since there are "better" products out there LOL.

I agree with everyone here, most customers dont care what you use, as long as the car looks great. For that small percentage of people that do care, its always good to have some sort of "high" end wax to meet their taste.

I would agree that 95% of your customers do not car the brands of products you are carrying... but I didn't read it that way.

What products help you SELL jobs? I've started selling Wolf's Hard Body nano sealant with my detail packages and it has been a huge hit. I explain the 1 year+ of durability and they are thrilled.

If you are going to use some specialty product, it needs to be an add-on service type product that has some sort of unique benefit. Such as DrivePur, Coatings, Scotch Guard, etc..

Hard Body, not Body Wrap. I use a mixture of IPA, ONR, and Glass Cleaner to cleanse the paint and I am a "heavy user" with the coating.

I've had it on my truck for months now it is still going strong. I'm very confident in the product.
