I would LOVE a metro, but the price is steep. Has anyone had a great experience with another similar and hopefully cheaper product? Electric leaf blower, etc?

Specific products would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Dear BTLew

People have used gas and electric leaf blowers with great success.

I have the Master Blaster and believe it's a nifty tool, but it still takes me at least thirty minutes to dry my Odyssey. A leaf blower wouldn't blow the water out of the cracks as well, but it'd be better than nothing.

Electric leaf blowers work great and are easily found for $50 at Lowe's...

I suggest the metro side kick. Great for blowing debris and water out of cracks and easier to maneuver than a leaf blower.

I believe Chemical Guys has it for cheaper than AG so ask AG to price match it. Something like $65-70.

I have the Master Blaster 8hp love it. A leaf blower is way cheap so up to you.

I tried using a shop vac's exhaust port once. It was pretty awesome for blowing whatever was INSIDE the shop vac out and onto the clean car.

whoooooooops!

I dont regret my 8 HP MB one bit. It is in a league of its own and is filtered.

The sidekick I great just to get the water out of those tight spaces/engine/wheels

spend the extra money and miss out on a meal or two out the house, its worth every single penny !

Just got mine today and went right out and washed the car to try it out. All I have to say is even though its a little expensive. It really does work great. I love it.

^^^What is the true-price of quality?^^^ :dunno:
Irregardless...Another consideration:

Whenever contemplating owning this unit: A person should make sure the circuit,
from which it is to be operated, is correctly: "sized".

I've been considering the sidekick so I don't have to lug around a giant (empty) shop vac. I'd love to have a blow/vac setup but I can't seem to figure out which is the correct option for a hand held vac and blower.

The metro website shows this one:

Metro Vac N Blo 500 Watt Hi Performance Hand Vac/Blower

but the name doesn't correspond to anything on the AG website.

Excellent point Bob! A 20 Amp circuit is required. It should also have a GFI. A 12 GA extension cord is as small as I would go. My 12 Ga started to show signs of insulation overheating , i.e.,shrinking around the conductors so I bought a 10 ga and have not seen any signs of damage.

I would at least get a seprate hose to blow. Seems you would blow dirt all over your paint if you vacuumed with it!

i have the 4hp metro vac & blow and a 1.7hp love them. i've never had an issue with dust blowing out, of course you want to run it for a sec at first to blow out anything still in the hose. i don't dry the whole vehicle with it but they're great for getting a lot of water off before towel drying. plus they're great for blowing out door handles and other crevices water hides in and perfect for finishing up under the hood. tried the leaf blower and not my thing.

I too have the metro 4hp metro. Absolutely great! Used it for more than cars. Turn it on, on smooth surface and it will propel itself!! If you want to blow out underneath seats , take hose and put it on the other end and wallah!
