so i want to start building my client base in san diego since i have finally got buffing the paint down pretty well (always learning).

im thinking "Buff Daddy mobile detailing and paint care"

also got insured for $1M liability...i really want to start using higher end products like WG. i am using chemical guys right now but need to make some $$ before i can start buying what i need..i want to get into the exotics and higher end cars as well.

anything anyone can add here will be great!

Just because youll be using "higher end" products doesnt mean youll get "high end cars". Clients dont care what you use, as long as your results speak for themselves. It will be a while before an owner of an exotic will let you work on his/her car. Chemical Guys is a good brand, youll learn eventually.

Hooah ;)

I'm starting out as a recreational detailer. so I can't give advice. But I do have a question tho. Hypothetically I start detailing exotics (remember I'm talking fiction here)
Is it unprofessional to use products from car pro, optimum , CG, ultima ?

I'm not sure what shampoos, trim guards, interior products the professionals use on those sort of cars.
(I've seen swissvax waxes used, but that's about it.

Do you think San Diego need's one more detailer? I just did a Google search and in YP.com there are 182 auto detailing companies.

It does not matter what brand chemicals you use. As long as they are economical, easy to use and get good results.

That's good.
Now should having a ton of Detailers in the area discourage anyone from starting their own ? I mean its a tough thing to get into but most of the Detailers don't know what they are doing.
Their "detail" consist of buying a cheap brand shampoo along with other products using there one wash bucket and there not that's hard as a rock.

Learn about business first, decide whether to, how to, and when to start an auto detailing business second.

Do you have any capital at all? Are able at this time to do quality mobile work? Tell us some about your experience, equipment, knowledge and ideas. It would be much better to give you some advice based upon that.

Was that directed to the op ?

local Cruise nights and forums are the way to go. As you get to know people within the car scene your name will get around. As far as products go when it comes to these vehicles, I have had more than a few conversations with clients about the products I use, but this is just my own experience.

no problem, i started out detailing at a high end body shop. Worked with a rotary a few times but know how they can burn paint VERY easy. My friend and i started a detailing business out of HS and built a very nice client list and charged over $400 at times with no paint correction. I started using a Porter cable 7424XP after knowing my way around a rotary (just didnt wanna make that fatal mistake at 18) about a year and a half ago. ive done my Cobra a few times and my bosses black BMW as well. here are the 2 i just mentioned.

OPERATION: Make it shine!!! - SVTPerformance

Buffed my bosses BLACK BMW 328i..first ever black car ive buffed - SVTPerformance

i want to do this as a side gig for extra $$ and i love making cars look their best. I am fully mobile but recommend for paint correction to store it in my garage so i can work for the 2 days....any other questions im sure i may have missed something:xyxthumbs:
