While doing a job in SoCal, on lunch break in the parking lot I see a mobile detailer. Out of curiosity I walk over. He's applying wax with a rotary, I think, okay.... I then ask what packages He has. He kinda gets excited on how his package is. He explains to he how he first polishes the paint to clean it, THEN clays to remove the access oxidation. I then politely try telling him he has is all wrong. But insists that he is right. I tell him good luck and walk away..

Another guy giving us a bad name by not doing things the right way.

LoL, sounds like a guy at my job. I sold him an old can of Megs Cleaner wax for his "detail." He used the whole can on three cars, LoL

You handled it well.
I would of been irritated lol

Claying to remove oxidation? Uhhhhhhhh.... what?

Ya man just make sure you do all your polishing after you seal and you will be blown away at how awesome your paint comes out....

Man feel bad for the people that pay some of these "detailers" for there work.... :(

He was also working on a black Altima, he was trying to show me how he removed all the scratches.. I pointed out holograms, RIDS, and swirls. He kinda stumbled and said, yes, but you should've seen the big scratch I removed.. Some detailers LOL.

Without the Internet I was clueless. I used to think when a car was swirled up it needed to re-painted or traded in. I had no idea what anything but wax is for. Without forums like this, I'd probably still be that way.

Of course, I don't know how you could be interested in something and not want to learn more about it on the Internet today.

This^^^^

I used to see compoundin signs at local car washes and thought compound was just for removing scratches and scuffs. No idea what polish was lol. Thought wax filled scratches and made the car shiny. Also didn't believe my dad when he used to tell me the car washes scratched the car.

Found autogeek and now I can't look at a car without identifying its flaws and how I'd fix it up lol. Guess it's all part of the addiction.
