Official Meguiar's Crew - Fanatics and Chat Thread

While 3M owns Meguiars, it is a wholly owned subsidiary and functions as its' own business. The Meguiars products are not the same as 3M. Think of 3M as the money for Megs, not the scientest.

Believe what you want.

What proof do you have to the contrary? As a regular member on MOL, this has been discussed a bunch. According to Megs own people, 3m let's Megs run on its' own, with its' own people. I wouldn't see any reason for them to lie. None of their current offerings have anything in common with any 3M products, and in fact most current Megs products spank most current 3M products.

3M owns Meguiars for several years. So you are using a 3m product.
•Even though this is a "fanatics thread"...Doesn't mean there has to be such a fanatical-comment:
-It borders on being hysteric , IMHO!

Also, the same from '3M people.'

What is MOL?? Is that a dedicated Meguiar's forum?

I'm a fanatic of Meg's DUB wheel cleaner, I haven't been this blown away with a product since I tried my first rinseless product, ONR, its that big of a deal for me :dblthumb2:

While I'm here I should let you guys know that Advance Auto Parts has it on sale for $4.99 a bottle, you just can't beat the product and for that price, a NO BRAINER!

My favorite Meg's product is D114. No wax, gloss additives, does not hinder the look of the underlying LSP. its just slick and makes your paint squeaky clean.

What does everyone dilute it for a QD? Just courious, I used .5oz in a 500ML spray bottle. Haven't actually used it yet though, its sitting in my detail closet awaiting to be reckoned with.

Sorry did not mean to call anyone a liar. 3M does let some of it divisions and subsidiaries run their own show.

But I find hard to believe that technology is not shared through the entire enterprise.

Suppose the 3M auto product division come up with a great discovery, do you think would not share it with other divisions that could make us of it and visa versa.

Again, no one is a lair

I'm here to back up Kris' statement. Meguiar's is ran independently and they can do whatever they want.

I'm just guessing here as I'm not 100% certain but I think Meguiar's is taking advantage of 3M's business side of things like distribution, marketing, logistics, etc.

In addition, I think that Meguiar's is taking advantage of some technologies and products 3M offers. For example, the Meguiar's masking tape and sanding media.

Again, this is just speculation from my end but it just makes sense.

I agree!!! It's an awesome product especially for the price. Everyone in this thread needs to give it a shot.

I've read that 1:128 is the dilution for a waterless wash. I'm not sure if you can dilute it more and make it a QD. I'd rather be on the safe side and dilute it 1:128 as recommended and just use that as QD. Can't be too safe.

Have you tried D115 yet? I like that more than D114.

All of us are speculating. I just wanted to say the 3m owns Meguiars and all of this followed.

Have a great day and enjoy detailing

I haven't tried D115. I like to stick with products that don't leave anything behind as far as waterless washes/rinseless washes & car soaps go :xyxthumbs:

I hate to ask stupid questions, but sometimes I get lost on the acronyms. What does DUB stand for? I looked at Meg's website and can't find a wheel cleaner that fits DUB. I'm always looking for a wheel cleaner that actually does remove brake dust, and right now I'm still looking.
Just for the record, I knew 3M bought Meg's a long time ago. The story I was told was that 3M couldn't come up with a buffing compound that was as good as Meg's so they did what 3M always does, they bought them.
