I have been using M105 followed by M205 for quite some time and have had success with it. Being that I am running out of M105/M205 I will be stocking up for this season. Recently I have heard good things about Menzerna Power Gloss Compound (PG 1000) and am wondering which product is better overall in regards to workability, cut, and finish? Any others similar in price that give similar results. I detail on the side for friends, family, and others though word of mouth so I am looking for quality with price in mind.

Also, if I went with Menzerna Compound should I go with there polish and fine grade polish?

I think if I was in the market for a new Meguiar's compound I would try #101. Several members of AGO have just about fell in love with it. Menzerna also manufactures many quality products it seems. I don't have enough experience with them to recommend any however.
 
After using M101, 105 collects dust for me. It's so much easier to use and you get faster results with it. 101 gets my vote.
 
Hmm...guess I should switch the question to 101 or Menzerna?
 
Mez FG400 and MF what I use everyday. It has a longer working time than 105 and finishes down better. Its my go to stuff for one steps.

Just curious how it compares to M101 or M105 in regards to cutting power? Also what is the difference between FG400 and PG1000 besides the price? Both need to be followed with a finer polish correct?
 
It has a little less cut but way easier to work with and longer working time. No FG 400 doesn't always need to be followed up with a finishing polish. I use it for one steps all the time and comes out great. Depends on what your looking for. The biggest difference between PG1000 and FG400 is that FG400 finishes down better.
 
For me, M101 made M105 obsolete. FG400 made PG1000 obsolete.

M101 works longer and finishes better than M105. You could say M101 is the new and improved M105. Same goes for Menzerna FG400..works better and finishes better than PG1000 with a lot less dusting.
 
i did FG400 with a MF catting pad and then to menz 4000 white pad and then put a coat of BFWD. That combo will take care of 90% of you needs.

Wow some great information here guys. I don't think I can go wrong with either. Being that it has more cut and the price difference I may give PG1000 a try. My only real question is the dusting? Is it similar to that of 105?

M105 dusts like crazy and its old news. Like everyone is saying try M101. Even D300 with an MF disc will get you better cutting results and less dust than M105.

Totally agree with him.

D300/MF cutting disc is my go-to compounding products.

I agree. Especially for soft paints. I also finish down with a foam pad everytime, but I find that the finishing disc in the megs MF system works well on harder clears, on softer paints its best to use Foam pads like Pureshine suggested.

Get M101 it only hurts when you write the check, tomorrow you'll forget all about it and be saying what a great compound it is. With M105 there are a few tricks to cut down the dusting but with M101 just motor on. Yea it's that good. Fillow by M205 for a winning combo.

Now mind you on very soft paint M101 could be too aggressive so it does depend on what you are working with. On soft paint maybe M205 with a cutting pad or even a polishing pad could do the trick.
