This is a big deal for me since I am trying to move the business to the point that it its actually bringing in actual revenue and start being a business instead of a hobby.

Thoughts and input are always welcome for the next batch.

yeah its a normal size business card, it just wont have that border and thats awesome, i dont know very many detailers in houston, I just met 2 others recently. What part of town are you in?

I like it Jonathan.

Then again, I use "Premier" in my Home Theater business. ;)

I feel ya' though on moving it away from a hobby to a business. We're in the same process. Surely, can't let the kid sit around all summer on his arse, (as he would like) and he surely doesn't get enough hours at his newly found grocery store job (yet).

for starters, congrats on that being your 1000th post! and my son coming into the world in 2 months so he is a long ways away from helping!

Home theater is my pure hobby now, i worked in the AV industry until very recently so I know what it takes to make it in that world! best of luck to you, its a bold and scary move but hopefully it will be beneficial in the long run for me and my family.

Most applicable thing i have read for this:

Nice cards. I used to live in Spring! I ran the Ace Hardware on Spring Cypress across from the golf course.

Dude! I hired Edgar when that other store closed down! He is a great guy. I always remember his crazy predator watch and I could never understand how he could read it lol.

I told him about the site he ordered it from! He has been one of the best I have had the opportunity work with and he loved that little Toyota lol!

Wow what a small world!

Well I'll be damned! I didn't realize the 1000th post thing.

Home theater is a big hobby for me as well, and yes... everyone needs surround in every room of the house. ;-) Actually started with the invent of "quad" in the 70's and never stopped. Before the last economic crash I started doing HT design and consulting (along with sales and installation) and really enjoyed it. Nothing like hanging around in a dedicated HT that you just built for a client with 300 fiber optic stars in the ceiling and 20,000 watts of ground shaking 9.2 to make your day. :) OTOH the clients willing to spend like that these days, are far and few between.

So.... enter detailing. (Been doing that since the 70's too!) But if only to be so lucky as to have 'the boy' actually show the required interest and be driven enough to WANT to be successful at it. :dunno:

Nice card design, i live around the Houston area as well. Maybe we can all get together sometime to share some knowledge?

Yes, yes we do all need 110" screens with 3D DLP projectors that have 1ms response times (for gaming) along with 7.2 (two 10" subwoofers) surround sound.

Brazoria is far bro!

we are on the north side talking about gathering up here, there aren't very many of us that truly want to be the best at it so we are a semi rare breed and always looking to meet others that are immersed in it like I am. Hit me up and we will try to coordinate something.

I didnt think that would be happening too often, i was noticing a trend of big corps not wanting to spend like they had before. getting a conference room setup for $40k wasnt out of the question once it was installed and done. now getting $20k seems like it was pulling teeth. There is still a lot of money to be made tho because the markup and margins on some of the stuff has gotten very nice if it can be pitched just right

Of course it's far but I go to the spring area every now and then lol. Shoot me a pm and we can exchange numbers.

I swear to God... the one thing that stuck out in that statement was "1ms response time". And I actually KNOW WHAT IT MEANS!

Yup, been there done that. I started doing residential stuff in 97 and it was really strong till 2003. When the housing market dried up, so did the HT market. My average client was in at 65K or so. Plenty of markup in speakers and wires, even some in audio. Video OTOH has always been a tough market, especially when you try to compete with big box stores. That's where I fell back on my background in architectural drafting and did the consulting. ;)

One of the last big ones in 02 I did.... Had a client that built his own room out before I ever came along. Dual layer sheetrock on hat channel, isodamp in the walls and ceiling, staggered studs, the whole thing was done right, as far as basic construction that is. OTOH he had a Panasonic RPTV and some cheap speakers with a white leather pit group.

Then after I came along we did the room once at around 50K, custom speakers with dual 12's, MTM in the upper end. Then built twin 73" subs (4 NHT 12's in each) for the front corners. Popped in a fixed screen and a low end projector, plus all the sound panels and decorations.

About a year later we went back, full hog..... He ended up with 125K in the room and another 25K in the rest of the house. Had 4 surround setups including the theater and 8 two-channel zones.

Then it wasn't 30 days after it was all setup and going great when his wife hit him with divorce papers!

He had the T3P's in the front. Used another middle section as a center channel. Top and bottom sections run from rack mounted amps, with a 3rd sub section in the rear running out of phase. (Still had the 73" custom subs behind the front curtains) Two sets of sides, (below) and one pair of rears (also below).

Heck RBH threatened to file suit over his speakers because he had to sell them and tried selling them online. (They wanted everyone's head on a stick!) Problem is... he had the ONLY setup like that (in that finish) in the US so there was no way they believed we were not trying to sell their products on the internet. (Even though I had no freaking part in it!)
