Sign-up: 1987 Monte Carlo Extreme Makeover

I borrowed my buddy Bob's 1987 black Monte Carlo for a demo car for this year's Detail Fest and after all the demonstrations that took place on Saturday and Sunday during the various classes the trunk lid and hood are about 70% polished.

The rest of the car is Swirl City!

So join us this Thursday night as we remove all the swirls, scratches, water spots and even oxidation from this 15-year old single stage black paint job and restore a finish worthy of the Monte Carlo marquee...

This will also be your chance to test out the new BLACKFIRE Black ICE Hybrid Montan Sealant Wax

Sign me up please , the old lady is off and I will be there if you will have me. Thanks much appreciated. Might bring someone if that's ok.

Memories:awman:

I owned an '85 Monte SS black, similar to the one shown. Sweet car -- had the 5.0 litre HO engine and looked great besides.

I would have guessed this was not an '87 as they went with an "aero" back window in '86. Maybe they switched it back. :dunno:

Looks like it will provide hours and hours of learning opportunities. Looking forward to seeing it after you guys take care of it.

Louie is off on another of his many vacations but I will help and Robert will check in later.:hungry:

You're on the list Chris...

Can't wait to see this, that thing is hammered.

In two of my Detail Fest Classes, (PC & Flex XC3401), I demonstrated how to clay because before you do any machine polishing you should always decontaminate the paint first, and I still have both clay patties and the both show RED contaminants, like red overspray paint.

So besides being hammered with swirls and scratches there's some type of red contaminates all over the paint including the glass.

I pulled the vehicle registration out of the glove box before naming my pictures to make sure and it stated the car to be a 1987 Monte Carlo.

There's actually quite a few very thin panels on this car that need correct work, such as using 3" and 4" buffing pads. So I'll set up the Rupes orbital LHR75 air polisher plus some Griot's 3" Mini Polishers plus some Flex PE14 Rotary Polishers to do a bunch of Surgical Buffing.

Sounds good Tim... :xyxthumbs:

Sign me up Mike!

Looking forward to using the Rupes Bigfoot!

I just finished cleaning and re-organizing the studio after Detail Fest and all the Rupes polishers are back on the Rupes cart and ready to go.

I owned 2 of these neat looking cars and the aero coupe was an option designed for NASCAR to keep up with the Thunderbirds.
