I have seen the suggestion posted a few times and I will add it up here as well. Best thing to do is take the grit guard with you to the store and try it in the bucket before you buy it. Might help you out.
 
Well, look at this way. Some guys have to (or choose to) buy TWO grit guards so theirs sits higher in the bucket. If yours isn't going all the way to the bottom then you just *saved* money. ;)

All this got me to thinking so I went and checked all my Lowes buckets, including the ones that my wife just bought.... drops to the bottom of them all. :dunno: She even surprised me this last go round and bought me lids for them all so I could transport them with fluid in them and not soak the vehicles. :D

Lowes switched to another bucket in the last six months or so. I work at Lowes and the gray and blue buckets both changed.

I bought mine within the last month or so. I looked online and they have a dark blue and a light blue listed. I have the dark blue one.

I live in Central Illinois. I've purchased 5 gallon buckets from Menards, Walmart, Lowes, and Home Depot. The grit guard lodged half-way on all buckets except for Home Depot's. It still lodges about 1/4 an inch from the bottom, though :(
 
i have 4 buckets total, 2 lowes white with measurement, pep boys and a white one from walmart.

Both the grit guard on both wal mart and pepboys only go a little more then half way about 2/3. the lowes buckets if i jam it as far down as i can i have about a 1/4" gap from reaching the bottom :(

Bringing the grit guard with me buying trying to find a bucket would have definitely helped. At least the pep boys ones were free and the others were pretty cheap as well. I really want to buy ones that fit properly but i dont have a use for all these buckets haha
 
Now I need to bring my grit with me and measure. Kinda suck if it doesn't fit.
 
Are the grit guards from the same supplier? I will have to check mine now. I recently got them and haven't had a chance to use them yet.
 
when in doubt bring the GG w you.

i bought 4 lowes buckets with the assumption theyd fit and nope only go down 2/3 the way.
 
Mine are from AG and they don't fit in the lowes blue bucket with the light blue logo.
