Good to hear...

Maybe sometime in the future Yancy can re-edit the video and take out all the "interview" portions and it would be a pretty complte step-by-step guide on how to wetsand, cut and buff.

Start a new thread with your project as you move forward...

I will Mike, I got to looking at my car very close today and I can still see sanding scratches from when the car was sanded !Those are under the paint and unreachable......The body man who did my paint job is a customer of mine and charged me $2800.00 to sand off all the old paint and paint the car. It's a 10 foot paint job.

Yeah I see this issue with re-paints all the time. The term is called,

Shrink Back or Die Back

The term originated with single stage paints but you get a similar problem/appearance with basecoat/clearcoat paint jobs when the prep work isn't perfect.

The 1966 Mustang we buffed out last Thursday has an inexpensive paint job and the paint has Shrink Back, that is you can see the sanding prep marks but they are not on the surface, they are below in the primer. They cannot be buffed out.

That's why I prefaced the SIGN-UP thread for the Mustang project like this,

Sign-up: 1966 Mustang Convertible

Max just bought this one-owner 1966 Mustang Convertible and this Thursday Night we're going to take the paint to its maximum potential, like I talk about in this article on the exact same topic....

"Taking your car's paint to it's maximum potential"

The reason I included the article about taking your car's finish to its maximum potential is because after I found the shrink back I new we couldn't create a show car finish but I also knew we could take what we had to work with to a higher level and that's exactly what we did...

***Update***

All the cars arrived yesterday and today for this weekend's class and I have to say, the people attending this class are going to work hard but have a lot of fun.

I spent the entire day setting up the studio and it's 100% ready to rock and roll.

I'm going to tweak the power point presentation a little and then I'll try to take a few pictures to add before I go home tonight.
