2 cycle snow blower and seafoam

My question is, will this be a good idea. I have a snowblower from late 80s early 90s and Im thinking about seafoaming it. I know a 2 stroke is less efficient than 4 , but will I see noticeable increases on fuel economy and is it safe to do so.
 
You're better off using StaBil for storage.
Fuel economy on a snowblower? Really??
How do you even attempt to measure that?
 
I would just say its extremely low. its a late 80s snow blower

How would you know it's really low, is there a measurement per inch of snowfall versus gas/oil mixture used standard?



Time to get a 2013 model that gets better fuel usage or better yet, buy electric.



Shovels work well too, no gas used.

Seriously, bill the thing is 30 years old, just get a new one. Not to mention you wont be needing it till maybe november of this year. Dont worry about it.
 
Stabil and tune up the fuel system. New spark plug (E3), new fuel filter. My dad did that a couple winters ago to the one he's had for prolly 15 years and the thing never ran better. Sometimes you can best those old two strokes. That one he had is a beast. Like mentioned before though, I'm not a believer in the sea foam either.
 
If its running fine, don't mess with it. Seafoam could clear out a lot of junk that is holding the seals together.

I don't know if Seafoam will/won't improve the fuel economy of your 80's snowblower...But:

By following the below: "Snow-blower-mpg-information"...

As such:

Her snow-blowing path(s):
-Driveways: 152.5ft long x 16ft wide = 1220 linear ft
-Sidewalk: 40ft x 3ft sidewalk = 120 linear ft
1220+120 = 1320 linear ft.

Snowblower specs.:
-24" x 4" intake
-Fuel tank capacity: 2.0 gallons of 40:1 gas/oil mix.

Fuel Consumption/MPG
(After completion of: one-trip-around...for a 4" snowfall):
.25/2 = ~.125 mpg (C1V1=C2V2)

This mpg is achieved in conjunction with her practicing these good "operating-habits":
-Planning her stops/turns in advance.
-Practicing defensive-operating-techniques. (No road rage!)
-Eliminating distractions. (No cell phones, ipods, "discussions")
-Easy does it...(Operating slowly; no jack-rabbit starts)

I also suggested that she should practice what some "hypermilers" are keen to do:
Operate machinery without shoes. :eek:

Of course...
She checked and found out that operating equipment without shoes is illegal in some States...
including Ohio...year 'round.
