I have a grey VW Golf GTi and I am looking at some minor swirl 'correction' by hand. I use the word correction loosely as I know most hand polishes are filler based rather than actually abrasive.

I was thinking of using swirlX for this part. Then I wanted to use black light and top it with a good long lasting wax like Finish Kare 1000p.

Any recommendations for the post black light stage and even something before that?

I think you can probably do some pretty good swirl correction by hand these days using Ultimate Compound, you probably don't even need to go to Ultimate Polish on gray. It will still be a lot of work, but a lot easier than the old days.

For the whole car? that wont cut it too much will it?

Thanks for the help.

No... As long as you do it normally and not turn into The Incredible Hulk.

Try the meguiars Ultimate Compound since it is helps remove swirl marks. (Something like that never used it, but now I see how meguiars Ultimate compound could benefit somebody)

By hand should be pretty easy and you could even follow it up with Meguiars polish, I like the Ultimate wax, get liquid so dirt doesn't fall into the paste and ruin your whole batch. if you want to go all out.
Just use a nice clean micro fiber towel.

If I was doing this and my towel fell on the floor I would replace it with a clean one

Post a picture of the car

Wash the car with auto soap, meguiars is good and wont break the bank.

Then on a clean surface do a test spot see how it looks before you start on the whole car.

The process and how to's im good with. Just adjusting to american products. Back in the UK I always used Autoglym Super Resin Polish for any light swirls then onto a sealant wax.

After the ultimate compound, does anyone recommend anything before I go to the Black Light. And then any recommendations for a long lasting wax after the black light?

Oh yeah AIO

Still learning the terms. Got this one (not saying you dont) All in One haha. I'm Getting better woot woot!

I like buying products like that at my local auto store but you can also look into Auto Geek.

Auto Geek specializes in this so if you want to goo full speed hit them up.

According to Todd Cooperider's review, black light can be used as AIO. So you might able to get away with UC then AIO. You never know before you try.

That is the plan at the moment and will probably go with that. I was just wondering if anyone had used something before applying black light before. And a longer lasting wax over the top.

Im looking forward to giving it a go.
