Its probally been asked before but i wanted to know if i scuffed my clear coat with 2000 grit sand paper to rid the orange peel. My question will the da actually bring back out the shine or will i need a rotary? And would megs ulti compound do the trick?:pc7424:

I doubt UC will do it. But the pc will. I've done it with the mf system and m105 but that's the only two I've tried it with.

I'd tackle that with a wool pad on a rotary. If the paint is fresh, you might be able to get it. If its fully cured, you might be there for a couple of days

The PC will do the trick with the proper pad and compound combo. Menzerna, Megs and others all make a heavy cut compound. A orange foam LC or Meg's Microfiber pad would be my choice of pad.

But, like 2old2change said, it will do the trick. A smaller pad and backing plate will spin faster and cut harder.

Yes it will, did the hood of a 74 vete after wet-sanding with 2000 grit, turned out great. Rotary will however be much faster

I do have access to a rotary but i fear ill screw up and here's a pic of what it looks like as of now

+1 PC and MF pads no problemo. Work with what you've got. Yea a rotary will be the tool of choice but the PC will get the job done.

Surprisingly ulti compound cut it nicely with my pc and foam cutting pad i followed it up with ulti polish then finished it off with gold class
