Zierbart Detailing

And:
The majority of the areas of surface-rust that's not covered under the warranty for your truck will be
where Zeibart drills holes to power-squirt-in their "rust protection/rust-proofing product".
This is something you definitely do not need.

From your 2013 Ford F-150 truck's warranty:

Rust or Corrosion Warranty:
"This warranty covers the vehicle's sheet metal, and protects you from rust and corrosion
that are severe enough to cause a hole---surface rust is not covered.
However, if you keep your car washed and waxed, rust shouldn't be a problem".

Just a few of my thoughts on what is now considered to be:
The Nation's fastest growing: "Detail Company".

:)

Bob

When i purchased my Escape in 2010, it was politely (actually a very cordial discussion) suggested that I take advantage of their protection package.

I politely directed them to AGO at the time and said that I was covered. :) end of discussion.

Thanks for all of the thoughts. I just dropped her off to have the detailing and paint protectant (sealant ) done. Going this route gave me a 5-year paint protection warranty through Ford even when I do my own sealant etc. Versus goingbck to zierbart. Thankfully I was wrong and the rust protection was not included in the package so I did not have to beg them to not drill into the truck. This also includes a sound barrier sealant for the bottom of the truck.

Hopefully they will do a great job. If things go well , what do you all recommend I do myself in addition ? They are going to clay bar, polish etc. Then sealant. Should I be looking at only a good shampoo , microfiber towels , mitt, detail spray, and maybe a wax in case I feel like topping ?

:xyxthumbs: Please post pics of how the vehicle comes out. Keep us updated.

You should be looking at all aspects of car care, should you be so inclined, to maintain the finish that you are paying for. There are several good articles/posts here - you should be able to search for the tips/tricks/techniques and products you need.:dblthumb2:

if you want the rust proofing you can get it and do it yourelf, it is called "amber rust proofing" it works very well you can get it from grainger, there are a few companies that make the stuff, and theres a 2 or 3 foot wand with a 360 spray nozzle for inside frame rails, just use the existing holes in your trucks frame. whenever i do this to my own vehicle i first degrease, scrub and pressure wash the entire underside, blow out any pockets with compressed air (120 psi) and then i remove all of the rust, clean and prep any bare metal, paint it with por-15 or chasis black coat (also a POR15 product) the amber rust proof all internal surfaces (such as inside frame rails) and apply a wax based rust proof product to the exterior surfaces, and after everything is cure 100% an undercarriage spray such as barebones, and even after all of the money and time i spend doing this it is cheaper than ziebarts...not to mention way more effective, careful of what products you use on the underside (rubberized undercoatings trap moisture and cause rust)

You now need to read all the legal crap about how to not void that 5 year warranty. You may be required to see them annually so they can do a sign off.

I absolutely think that after a little research on this site and a couple hundred bucks worth of high quality tools and material, you can do much better than the dealer will with this treatment. These "packages" are huge profit centers for the dealers and are usually sold by the finance department after you have agreed on the price of the vehicle. I have negotiated on cars that have the super duper desert protection package already on the car. I just tell them it was a bad call to put that on the car if it was going to stay on the price because Dealer X isn't going to bend me over like that. They fold every time.

Same with the secret micro dot theft protection system. If my car is stolen and parted down to that level, I'll just use my expensive insurance policy to get another one. I don't want it back in that condition anyway so you're doing me no favors by helping me recover my car in component form. It was a PTA to scape all those off before opticoat and I wish I could have broken the bad news I wasn't paying for it before they squirted goop with little dots everywhere.

BTW, fillers hide small scratches and swirls with a type of clay that actually fills them in...temporarily. Usually comes off in 1-2 washes and then it looks as bad as ever. Not horrible, just not the best practice and certainly not worth a grand.

Jump in. There a lot of pros on here (not me, hobbyist) who can and will help you with anything that comes up.

Would it be possible on the day he shows up to pick up his car. He shows up with IPA and wipes a panel. Then says, "nope sorry still has swirl marks"

And if it looks great, then great.

This is a great forum. Thanks a lot everyone. All great points and ideas. Although I don't own a camera, I'll try to take some justified photos with my "smart" phone. I might even borrow a camera. Any special angle/lighting important? I imagine direct sunlight close-ups are best for finding swirls...

Got the truck back today and as one could expect, I'm not happy.

1.) They obviously did a half-ass job. I have white polish (?) everywhere, very noticeable on the rubber, chrome, and "f-150" logo. Why would you take my money and give my truck back unfinished? I shouldn't have to get home and wipe this #### off.

2.) I likely never looked as hard as I did today, but I don't recall seeing any fine lines in the paint on my hood. Today, up close and moving my head side to side in the bright sun, I can definitely see some fine lines. Unbelievable.

3.) There was a tiny, centimeter spot coming off the lot that was supposed to be touched up on the bed. It wasn't taken care of and I found a new one on the door of the bed. Awesome!

4.) There are two "paint bubbles" that I figured they would have sanded down or something. These must have occured at the factory but isn't that something a good detailer takes care of for you?

5.) The windows, tires, and everything else besides the paint weren't even clean. I figured I'd get a total wash for my time and money... Water stains all over the windows. Not to mention dust all over (I won't put the blame on them though, IT IS black)

6.) Sitting in my passenger seat was the paperwork... VALUGARD Total Auto Preservation Systems were the folks who ACTUALLY did this fine job. Now, I do not know anything about VALUGARD. They may have fantastic products, but the job was crap and my dealership gave me a brochure for Zierbart's. I spent a crap ton of time looking up information on Zierbart's as this is who I was told would be working on my truck. How can this be ok?

After calling up the dealership, I was told to bring the truck in so that their body shop could re-wash it, buff out or re-paint any scratches, and look at it any other complaints I have. The only positive thing was that the bedliner looks great. To the normal eye, the truck itself looks fantastic but I'm not settling for less than perfect after spending this large chunk of change. Bullcrap. Excuse my language, but WOW.

I know for a fact that 8 ounces of Chemical Guys Citrus Wash will break down their "diamond gloss" protection. $500 detail w/ protection ruined with $1.56 worth of soap ;) Now how do you feel? :D

And no I did not pay for the detail, it was a customer's car.

I recommend requesting a refund and if not, file a BBB complaint. Take many many pictures of their work!

That stinks. Sorry you went thru with it. The prob I would have with the dealership "fixing" the scratches is they'll probably just mow thru some

clear coat to get out the scratches and say they repainted. Hard to trust them imo. Cut your losses and fix yourself.

I agree. You are better off fixing it yourself or sourcing a reputable detailer in your area, possibly through the help of this forum.

Get a refund, buy the supplies yourself needed to do it. Simpler, cheaper, better overall. Besides it lets you learn a new skill.

Did you not write this topic in enough time to cancel your appointment? I do believe a majority if not all of us said not to go forward with this. I hope it all gets resolved soon.

X2.

Bum deal about the "detail". Hope you are able to fix it yourself.
