I just finished buffing&polishing my 90 Mustang GT.I have a fair amount of dust on it from the compounding process and would like to know is it safe to rinse&dry the car to get the dust off without scratching the new buff&polish job???I used Meg's 105&Megs 205 for that process, and will be using Meg's 26 to wax it with when I get it cleaned off&dried.I am just afraid I will scratch all that hard work I just did.Should it be waxed before I do this as I have I have completed 2 out of the three step process?I'm new to detailing and just don't want to make a mistake.Feed back please. Also should I just rinse or wash the car? What are the best products to wash the car without scratching the paint?:autowash:

Do you have any kinds of waterless washes? They would be very safe and shouldn't create any scratches.

It's not the wash that's going to scratch, it's the wiping. Could do some ONR at QD strength and spray it down good, then a hose rinse. Follow that with a blow dry on the big panels and compressed air in the nooks and crevices. If you've got some really shaggy, really nice MF's you might get away with it.

OTOH, if it were me I'd just blow it off, compressed air and a blower. Once you get all your LSP done it'll be less likely to scratch your hard work.

BTW, it's looking GREAT! :)

It does look great. In my case since I dont have all those tools.

I would rinse the heck out of it. Then wash it. Probably with Meguiar's Gold class (would this shampoo work?)

After it is washed, I would detail the crevices with a damp towel (maybe the waterless wash since coming to AG)

After it's a dry and dandy I would apply the wax.

(After typing all this, I realized this is production detail style lol)

So what would be the correct way for him to do it? 😄

Great looking FOX!
I'm new to all this and don't have a lot of these products (yet) So I would just wash the car with the 2 bucket method and finish the third step.

don't wash it ! just sell the car to me as is . wanna get me a fox body someday .
nice car

iOS wipe down. Preferably menzerna top inspection or eraser. In a pinch I usually blow out all the cracks with compressed air and then follow it up with menzerna top inspection and almost use it as an ww.

I pulled the Mustang out and blew it off with my blower as I wiped it down with a microfiber towel.I also used the compressed air to blow out the cracks. Now it's time for some Meg's #26 yellow to finish it off then I can assemble the small parts I took off to get that veteran detail look. This was my first paint correction and the results were simply amazing. It could use some further paint correction to get some of the orange peel off in certain sections but I don't have enough experience yet.I'm going to work on a couple of practice panels before working on my car.

This might be a silly question but what is a iOS wipe down?I'm new to all this so I don't know what all the abbreviations mean, thanks again!

Thank you guys for all the great input&the compliments on my 90 GT!

I know "i" is usually Apple and "OS" is Operating System
I'm a Windows guy though.
But in terms of detailing I have no clue lol

May I ask why you would prefer a coupe?

I have always wanted a coupe because I like the look.besides it is several hundred pounds lighter that the hatchback. Most coupes are someone's ragged out drag car or daily driver that hasn't been taken care of.For the clean coupes that are out there, they are very expensive.I hope to someday have a clean coupe in my garage but my 90 GT will do just fine for now.:hotrod2:

This car is my first coupe. And I love it. I'm not into racing. But just love how the coupe looks opposed to the 4dr Stratus.

And once I lower it and have it on wheels/rims it will look even more awesome.

I'm into classics and customs, rat rods low riders. So I will be throwing those ideas on this car.
