I notice in the reflection when looking at my paint that there are lots of little ripples that seem random, preventing a perfect mirror shine. It's not bad like orange peel though. The paint is factory and I was curious as to whether this can be removed or if its just a characteristic of the paint.

Factory paint can still have orange peel. It just seems minor orange peel, can you put up a picture?

Not sure how tight of a pattern you are talking about, but it could be sanding marks in the paint. It is very common.

I'll post a picture a little later. At work right now.

Heres a good example of factory orange peel

I work at a dealership and I see it in most of the paint. It's like seeing a blurry reflection instead of a crisp one.

I took a short video of it. Notice how it seems almost like the reflection is pixelated.

So I guess I will always have to see that then. I sure as heck won't be sanding it or paying someone to.

Based on what I've seen posted here by the experts (including Mike), factory clear coat isn't thick enough to withstand removal of orange peel.

Unless of course you think it is covered under the manufacturer warranty.

From what I know factory CC is 3 layers of CC (always an estimate because one will never really know)

However a real mirror finish has 6 layers of CC. (So it can be sanded down)

It's not really something that I would consider worth spending a bunch of money on. It's a 2007 Dodge Charger that's a daily driver and has bug etching on the bumper. If money was going into the paint it would be for the bumper.
