Molding Adhesive

I was washing my RX350 yesterday and discovered that the rubber molding just under the roof rack rail had blown off (probably the last time I was on the interstate). It never did fit snugly even when the dealership pressed it back in place.

I ordered a new molding strip and was wondering what type of adhesive I should use. The molding fits into a slot on the roof and would be bonded/glued to the metal.

Here is a picture of the missing molding on the driver's side and the 2nd photo shows the molding on the passenger's side.

Typically those come with the adhesive already on them. You peel off the plastic strip and stick it on. Make sure the paint it covers is clean and wax free. If it doesn't come with adhesive then your local auto parts store should carry several types. 3M makes a black weatherstrip adhesive that would probably work well for that. Be sure to follow the directions on the tube for best results.

if replacement piece does not come with say the double side tape u can find it at local auto parts/ hardware stores . 3m and power grab .

What ever product you go with get some "wax and grease remover" from your local paint supplier and treat the area prior to application. This will allow for a great bond.
