Is it a waste of effort?

I've applied opticoat on some cars already and all they need is a good wash to get glossy again... Of course it's nothing like a fresh wax but still much better than cars that weren't opticoated as time goes by...
If you have the balls to wash your car every week, wax every month or two, clay every 3 months and polish every six, go for it... If not, stick to opticoat... I've tried that and failed... Lol. I'm putting finest on my car next month as result...
Believe me... You can handle it for some time, but if you live on a bad climate, you'll eventually give up on that....

Yes, I concur... Opti-Coat simply the best I've used so far. I agree with the point that after a wash, which I do weekly using ONR it is still nice.

But it only pain me when I see water spots here and there over some places due to our tropical weather :(... But yes, guess it can't be helped, can't fight the environment.

I pretty much dry up my car everytime it rains, but gotta let it go when we are having more and more things to do (job, family etc). The only thing I still stubborn at is for windows and windscreen, I must have a clear streakless vision.
 
So far i tried, OID and OCWax... it's really good.
But i realise they don't really last as long after u're opticoated :P

Agreed on the Water Spot issue with OC... I wasn't, just yet, able to test if it's a issue only related to the cure stage (between 30-90 days), or if it's a problem even after it.
I had a client who had the car full of water spot a month after having OC applied.... basically he spent a month traveling with the car, beach... mud road.... gasoline spill etc... and haven't washed his car during this time... the car was bad on water spot.... fortunately the gasoline spill didn't left any damage, a light polish by hand with po85rd took everything out.
As this was during the curing time from OC, I just can't tell if this issue might happen even after fully cured...
 
Mine is fully cured and is outside every day. Water-spotting is not a problem for me whatsoever.
 
I would think if you polished every 6 months, you wouldn't have any clear left after 2 years or so.
 
Sometimes knowing when to walk away and admire your work can be hard. It seems like you already have the best product on your car, considering it is a daily driver and such a harsh climate. Other people have suggesting using a QD, which I think is the way to go to squeeze some extra shine or gloss. Optimum's QD is great and it should work well with the opti coat. I also like FK425.
 
I have to say that QD is good and easy.... provided the paint is already outstanding...

I'm really amazed by what OID and OCWax have done.
 
Cars are personal things to many of us and not just metal and paint. Because of that nothing is a waste of time if it gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Technically, the Mr Spocks of this world would consider all of this a waste of time.
