Honestly, no. About 10 minutes. The lines didn't happen when I sprayed off the soap and then washed with the brush. Paint is dark blue metallic. I'm leaning towards the dirt trapped in the soap and was wondering gif anyone else had that screw up also. I think I just got careless and short for time.

Great review. I just started using the boars hair brush especially when the car is really dirty. I love it. Otherwise I use optimum rinseless wash and shine applied with a microfiber pad.

I had the same problems with the poles. I think a wooden one is going to work.

Never even tried a boars hair brush, but am thinking that RW'ing would leave build up on the bristles similar to the staining/build up on MF.

I always foam and pressure rinse first to remove anything abrasive.

Just looking for ideas for telescoping brushes for the new truck and wanted to see about the Montana Boars Hair Brush.

This makes me more confident to use a brush :xyxthumbs:
 
Very nice review.

I am very surprised to learn about a brush that would not swirl paint out. Will have to consider purchasing one for doing the top of SUVs and trucks.

I used the brush on my 2006 Lexus LS430 in Obsidian Black.

Much to my chagrin, it scratched the paint.

I soaked the brush for 30 minutes prior to use.
I foam gunned the car with CG Maxi Suds II, rinsed, and then 2BM with CG Citrus Wash & Gloss.

I have horizontal scratches (from fender to fender) on the bonnet consistent with the pattern i used the brush.
In all honesty, I attribute the scratches to user error and believe I applied too much pressure to the brush using a pole.

That being said, the other panels do not have scratches, or at least they were nowhere near as noticeable as on the bonnet. If used with caution and zero pressure other than the weight of the brush, it should not scratch, as many others in this thread have attested to its performance.

I will try to upload pictures if I get a chance to take some.

One question, do people who use this brush also hit the lower panels of the vehicle with the Montana? I used it on the ENTIRE car.

I use it on the entire car. Here is a pic of the paint I took yesterday.

I only use the pole on the roof and windshield. The rest I use it by hand. I use a snake like rinse-less wash pattern when using it. I'll use the brush on the nastiest dirties panels, then hose it out before putting in bucket #2 (rinse bucket) - and the rinse water stays clean. Then I will use it on the next panel.

That's why I like the brush, because it rinses clean. Maybe your paint is just super soft. I'm working on Nissan "hard clearcoat" (per under hood sticker).
 
I used the brush attached to the pole on the bonnet, roof, and windshield. I used it by hand on the rest of the vehicle. I suggest users use it by hand when possible and use no pressure.

SY, I assume you are applying zero pressure and just letting the brush glide across the paint?

And yes, I believe Lexus Obsidian Black paint to be extremely soft. But then again, I have little to compare it to, as I have only owned Lexus (white & black) and Nissan black vehicles.

I will continue to use the Montana with due care going forward.
 
I would only use it on the roof and hood.

I bought the boar's hair brush based almost solely on SY's review. I've used it on several cars, including my low mileage 2011 GS350. I know the GS has had some swirl marks/holograms because of some dealership polishing, so I can't say the boar's hair caused any of the marring I see on its finish.

I also use it on our '07 Odyssey, whose paint has not been very well maintained in the past I recently used my new GG polisher with some Meguiars UC / UP / UW with Lake Country Orange/White/Black pads, respectively, on the roof, hood, and front fenders of the Odyssey.....(that took me the better part of a whole day, too!). Those panels are super clear now...at least I can't see any swirls or marring on those surfaces.

Anyway, after several washes with the boar's hair brush, I don't see any marring on the hood/roof/fenders on the Odyssey.

I'll reserve final judgment for GS350 washes after I remove the holograms from the GS350, but based on SY's review and my limited experience, the prognosis is good!

Just curious, do most users forego the rinse bucket and just use the hose sprayer?
 
Montana is a nice brush. better is a premium blonde boars hair . softer -more plush
