7424xp 3" or 4" backing plate

Go with the 3" for the 4" pads. Always go with a smaller back plate than your pad size. Gives you some collusion if you get the pad somewhere tight so your back plate isn't hitting things.

I have been thinking about buying one or the Griot's 6" and swapping out the pad to the 3" or 4" as mentioned.
I have not seen anything about swapping out the weights, do you need to do that or should it be done? If so, then where can you find the weights for the 3" BP?

I swap BP (6,5,3.5") all the time--no need to change the counter weight. It's such a pain though--been thinking of getting the HF DA and setting it up just for 3 or 4" pads.

Yeah, your reading my mind about the HF DA.
I just was not sure about the counter weight how much affect it would have on the pad.
