Aquawax, It's really grown on me!

I have a pretty abused black Jeep Cherokee (2001 and lived entire life outside in elements in teh city and was only waxed once).

Been waiting to find a day where I have enough time to do the first full correction on it but until then have just been doing basic washing and such.

Yesterday the kids were taking a much longer nap than usual so I had time to wash, Iron-X, clay and then used Aquawax on it.

Of course it rained last night but when I started to drive this morning I was AMAZED at how reflective my hood looked and how nicely it was beaded. For as simple as it was, AquaWax seemed to have done a great job!

You drive a car for as long as I have been driving mine and you tend to notice these differences :) Cant wait to actually polish it!

So you were having issues with streaking - why did you decide to use more product instead of less? If you ended up with a soaked towel, I'm not surprised that you had streaking issues - I do a whole car with OCW, and the towel is virtually dry afterwards. This is where it's working differently for your environment than mine. I've tried a small spritz but found that soaking a MF applicator and wiping it on in a smooth controlled manner then wiping it off like I'm applying a wax is the only way I can get it to go on smoothly. If I simply spray and wipe the towel will not glide over the surface. It catches and rolls up. I can't keep it folded in fourths. That's why I went to the wet application with a dry wipe off for the environment where I live or perhaps it's the underlying products on my car. What works at your home doesn't necessarily work at mine. It doesn't for me and I won't purchase it again. It's amazing how aquawax goes on smoothly with no problems but according to you I don't know how to apply a spray wax. Meguiars UQW works well for me also. I've used multiple brands with ease. Optimum Spray Wax doesn't glide on well. It's not my application procedure or I'd have problems with all of the products. Get the point?

I spray directly on the panel - one spray, in a sweeping motion, suffices for most panels (two to three for the roof) - any more is just wasted product. I spread with the MF, flip towel and do a quick final buff, and never have issues - and I live in a tropical country, so humidity and heat are both high here.

I hope this clears up the confusion on someone's part.

You used it incorrectly, you got streaking. That's not the product's fault. Still, I don't see any point in continuing this discussion - you don't like OCW, and heck, it doesn't matter to me either way - it's not like I sell the product or anything.

I had to comment on this thread, ofcoarse! When I tried AW early last year I couldn't believe it! I was blown away with the shine, the ease of use, NO STREAKING, the smell and here's the kicker....the price! Having Carquest here in Chicagoland carry it makes it that much easier (and cheaper) to get. I went through 3 bottles last year, just never got around to getting a gallon but I will over the winter season. This is the product that convinced me you could actually wax your car out of a spray bottle!!!

I used it incorrrectly? I used it as stated on the label. How do you know how I used it? I used it like I do all spray waxes and have no trouble with them. Then I experimented and used in multiple ways until I got the results I wanted. Now somehow you think you know my mind and that I don't like it. I might not purchase it for what I use other spray waxes for but it doesn't mean I don't like it. It's simple. It doesn't glide on easily like other spray waxes. I never answered your question from an earlier post about why I applied more when I got streaking? I did that because I was able to even out the application and the streaking. It worked but resulted in the wet MF towel which apparently is the only part you honed in on. If that somehow, the wet MF towel, offended you I apologize. I'm confident that I originally applied the product correctly. I've done well over the past 40 years detailing cars and I'm certain I can handle the remainder of the 128 oz. jug of OSW. I am ready to get back to Aquawax!!!

You could trade some of that 128 oz of OSW so you can get to a brand new 128 oz jug of AW, just sayin';-)

If you did all that work, you should really go put a true LSP on their, IMO. AW is good stuff but certainly not long lasting like a traditional sealant or wax.

:iagree: All that work for naught if it isn't protected properly in my opinion. I do like and use AW on a regular basis I just don't expect any "protection" from it.

I agree too but tell that to my 2.5yo and 4month old! I was already pushing it to even use the AW :)

And this Jeep is pretty beat up so it is more just a good vehicle to learn how to properly do all this stuff.

I have a GG DA that I have not had time to even unbox yet, so rather than let all this product sit I figured I'd start experimenting. Next big job is to polish, etc to imagine strip this first.

It will be interesting to see how long it will last. I think it might surprise some people.

I hear this regularly, but have never seen any proof. Honestly my experience is it lasts just as long a Meg's UQW, just without the dust accumulation. OCW seems like the longest lasting tho. To me, if I get 2 - 4 weeks out of AW I am pleased, as by then I wash and dry monthly with AW.

All this talk of "protection" is quite amusing when you consider that most guys can't wait to get the polisher out a couple of times a year to shave more clear coat off.

There's some truth to this but in my own case I have not had to pull out my 6" GG RO one time on my car since I got it brand new on Sept 10th 2011, believe it or not! I just keep it clean w/ the use of rinseless washes, touch-free's in the winter, a certain drive-thru wash when its VERY salty, clay barring, various mild pollishes, sealants and waxes, including AW!

I could be wrong about this, but another quality I seem to note with Aquawax, is that it seems very resistant to having dusts accumilate on the surface after a wipe down with it.

And to me, living here in this "dust bowl" of southern New Mexico, I think that is a high compliment.

That is good to know. I used to use Meguiar's Quik Wax, but my car and motorcycle would get dusty really fast after. I'll give Aquawax a shot. Thanks.

How does AW compare to Hydro2 and Permanon?

I haven't used those 2 products but AW is a great product.

If you want to try some I'll get some to ya.
Not sure what part of the QC your at but I drive from Monroe to the clover side of the lake daily.
