Finding a location to do work when weather is bad

Ok so I am going mobile.

What happens if it rains the day of the appointment?

Do you guys have a location you can bring the cars to? Do customers usually cancel if it rains?

I have tried to find a place using Google but so far nothing. How would you search for that? Don't necessarilly need a garage, just a covered area with access to an outside water faucet and electrical box.

Advices please,

I don't think such a place exists (besides your local car wash) unless you know someone with some type of property that has those amenities that would be willing to let you use it...

I also don't think you could really wash a car in the rain under one, but there is always an EZ-UP to consider, but you'd still need your own power & water.
 
Power and water (especially water) aren't the problem. Customers don't want to pay for a detail knowing they aren't even going to get a day out of it.

Some clients may give you access th their garage especially if it's a higher end detail and it's more of a garage queen.

Most detailing is a fair weather sport.

No matter what a customer's decision may be regarding detailing during a rain-event; and:
I suppose it depends on how "covered" a covered-area may be...

But I've found it to be: Conductive (OOOPS!!)
I meant: Conducive to my health to not use electrical equipment in and around moisture-laden work areas.

As always:
It's up to others to decide 'watt' they will do in similar situations though.

I am not mobile and have a 2600 sq.ft. shop and it is a fact that customers won't want to bring their car in if it rains or if it threatens to rain.

The only caveat to this is if they are requesting an overnight or 2 day detail (extensive paint correction), or any other services that requires an extended cure period. I explain to them my requirements and find an appointment time with them which fits my schedule and theirs, which never takes into consideration weather (actually the scheduled pick up does take weather into consideration). The only other time where weather is eliminated from my booking is if they drop off their car before they go on vacation. Again, pick up may be weather permitting but usually I arrange delivery (where I go park their car in their own garage), which also falls under "weather permitting".

I agree with Bob that electricity (box or lightning) and water don't mix :props:

I am mobile as well and when the weather is bad most my clients don't mind me using their garage (most want me too but the lighting is horrible). I do have a good friend with a 2 stall that's pretty much empty he lets me use for no charge when I need it.
 
Ok. Do you ask that clients when they Schedule an appointment if they have a garage that you can use? Or do you only call them about it if it's gonna rain?
 
Just call them when it rains if they have a garage or if they still want you to come or they wish to reschedule...
If you have a pop up tent, put your van/ trailer to it, so the wires aren't exposed to the rain, then you can keep working.
