What is this stuff on my bumper?
It has been clayed already and the surface is smooth. It's not dust or anything.
The car has been through a few road trips.
It's on my bumper and a couple other lower parts of the car.

Looks like itty bitty rock picks to me.

Besides clay, what have you tried?

Can't he lightly run his finger nail over the spot and feel if they are small rock chips?
 
I just clayed it. There are a few rock chips but not all of them.
Should I try m105/205 on this?
 
Is that the front bumper? Did you just clay that one little spot there? What kind of car?
 
Yeah it's the front bumper.
I clayed the entire car but the front bumper has all this on it.
It's a 2005 acura tl.
 
Looks like road rash to me... which would be expected on a vehicle of that age and especially on the front bumper and lower parts of the vehicle like behind the wheels. These are essentially tiny rock chips from tiny rocks and debris hitting the painted surface. Acura has especially soft paint, so this is very common. It is this sort of damage that keeps the PPF companies in business.
 
If you want a flawless finish, then yes. If you can live with "Just OK" and are feeling pretty ambitious, you could try to go at it with Dr. Colorchip... not sure if that would work well, but they advertise the ability to repair road rash on their website.

If you get it repainted, I would look into PPF if you plan on keeping the vehicle a while longer, or ask the body shop to use a hard clear coat to help reduce the ease of chipping/rash.
 
Yeah road rash, unfortunately the front of my jeep looks a lot like that...
 
Looking again at the picture, is it possible there is left over 'wax' in the tiny dings? Notice the whiteish haze around the access hole.

Try some all purpose cleaner on the bumper, and see if looks better.

Yes. Do you have a polisher? What type? I'd use Microfiber cutting disc to try to clean/shine that the best I could and use a clear sealant after a good wash to get the 105/205 out of the chips.

The reason there are so many tiny dings in that bumper instead of all larger stone chips all over it is because it does have soft clear. If it had hard clear there would be many more larger stone chips in the bumper.
 
I have a pc 7424.
I have m105/205 and menzerna powerlock.
Using hydrotech pads and I have the hex logic pads that came with the pc from CG.
I didn't wax the bumper for about 3 years so I don't think its old wax.
Ill try megs apc+. Does it work well removing old wax?
