The leatherique King Ranch thread was deleted?

I think the leather looks cool after being treated, but of course, it's NOT suppose to be a dye!

I mean, maybe it doesn't look cool in real life, but it kinda looks like an old saddle or something and considering it's a king ranch...it kinda fits man.

i see no reason to ban him, he came on here upset that a product ruined his seat, yes that thread got out of hand, i see this as an opportunity to clean up this thread now and make it informational for king ranch owners, no more arguing about who is at fault, just the facts: do not use leatherique on uncoated leather such as the leather used in a king ranch edition vehicle.

I kind of like what leatherique did to the upper portion of my seat. That marbled look is completely different from the look I expect and was hoping for but it's not ThAT BAD. Sadly, the lower part of the seat where your butt goes, is ruined. It's stained and rough and doesn't match the marbled seat back in any way.

So yes, if you're after a marbled, worn, dark, splotchy look... you m-i-g-h-t get that on p-a-r-t-s of your king ranch leather seat but do not expect any uniformity as you can see in my pics.

Don,
I'm new to detailing, though I'm not new to working with leather products. Leather, being a natural product, will take on it's own character when cleaned or stained. Saddle Soap will even darken naturally finished leather. The darkness that you see will fade over time due to the leather absorbing the moisture. I suspect that as the moisture dissipates, so will the color.

What half-empty product(s) are resting peacefully in the console?
that's the wonderful leatherique leather rejuvination kit sold here on AG.
Holy Cowhide!!

You used that much on just one seat, and what looks like where you used some of it on the console?

Ever wonder if that may be why you are experiencing some: Color-Change-FX.

Give it a few more days to "out-gas".

That dark, rustic leather would look sick in something exotic like a black ferrari.

It would look sick in a king ranch too if all the leather ended up looking that way. See my pics. It's a crap shoot how the leather turns out looking. Mine looks like crap because of the different textures, shades, colors and the splotchiness.

I probably wouldn't be so PO'ed if leatherique owners george and his wife just admittted that leatherique screwed up my seat permanently and said SORRY ABOUT THAT... or if AG answered my emails and at the very least offered to take this $90 kit back and give me a refund.

But no. What do I get from leatherique George? "your leather is not ruined. THE PRODUCT WORKED AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO."

What do I get from AG? They deleted the entire 13 page thread and then don't respond to my refund requests. :help:

Expressing his experience in one thing and it was unfortunate that his experience wasn't what he expected. However, after his first thread was deleted, do you really think it was necessary to start another? Take a hint? THIS is why I'm saying cut ties now and stop wasting space with another thread.

I don't know about you, but I don't use ANY product on any surface of any vehicle without thoroughly researching and understanding what the product is and whether or not it is suitable for the application. I'm not going to go into situation unarmed from a knowledge perspective. Furthermore, the manufacturer has publicly stated what they suggest to remedy the situation. If he doesn't like the suggested remedy, there were plenty of other options that were expressed in the original thread. None of which seemed acceptable. It was just one complaint after another.

This is like saying, 'I grabbed a wheel cleaner because it said it was a wheel cleaner, but it ruined the finish on my wheels because I didn't fully understand how it should be used and/or whether it was the right product for my application'. Who's fault is that? Surely not the manufacturer of the cleaner.

It's unfortunate that this happened, but this could have been avoided. This is a classic case of user error and expectations that were beyond what the product was capable of delivering. Time to start working on a solution instead of complaining about the problem.

Yes that's a lot of oil that my seat drank in but the directions say to use several 4oz. applications if the leather is "cardboard hard". It also says "your patience will be rewarded". I also used the oil on the back and sides of the HUGE king ranch seat, the grab handles and the center console. So yeah, 16 oz didn't go far in this big truck with miles of leather

Geeze... is this thread going to reach 100+ posts again. What's done is done, no amount of complaining will remedy your situation. Not all products work in every scenario. You should have tested it and realized that it may not be the best idea to use on your very expensive seats. Lesson learned, and a reminder to the rest of us.

How was it a reminder to anyone when the 13 page thread was deleted?

A "sorry about leatherique ruining your seat", and "here's you $90 back" would go a long way.

Yeah, you already posted that link... we get it. We also understand you are upset about the product. None of that would have mattered if you had tested a small amount of the product in an inconspicuous area in the first place. It's always best to live, learn, and move on... or else you will have a very stressful life.

If leatherique develops a product that works well on 90% of all OEM leather seats (<- made up number simply to make a point) then I would say they have developed a very good product. No one can be expected to produce something completely universal when there are so many manufacturing variances in leather goods... hence the recommendation for testing products before use.

I see that you are relatively new to the forums and it is unfortunate that you have joined with a bad taste in your mouth, but if you stick around you will find everyone here is full of information and you can learn an awful lot.

Don you were refunded the full purchase price. If you have any questions, give us a call. 1-800-869-3011.

The previous thread was closed and moved - not deleted - because it was too much to clean it up to make it forum-appropriate once again.

I'm closing this one before it goes too far.
