My latest job was another black convertible Corvette (almost identical to the last one). Some parts of the car had been repainted, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Here’s what it looked like when the customer dropped it off.

Just a little dust.

Wheels weren’t too bad.

Some silicone tire dressing sling.

Cowl was looking a little faded.

Waterspots.

Exhaust wasn’t looking so hot.

Started the wash off with the wheels.

Then the wheelwells.

Looking new again.

Then to the paint with a little foam gun action.

After claying, I inspected the paint. This was easily the worst paint I’ve ever worked on.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks for checking it out!

Great looking job you have done on rescuing this Corvette!!

Just a little dust.
^^^Best understatement of the year!!^^^ :props:

Just a little dust my keister.
Someone must have taken a weedwhacker to it before you got a hold of it...

Paint readings looked alright.

^^^Quite handy measuring-tool to have...while in pursuit of your passion!^^^

Keep up the good work!

:)

Thanks Bob! Yes, it is quite handy to know what you're getting yourself into. I also have the 6000 probe for it.

Also I probably should have mentioned I changed my forum name from dsmith2013 to David@DCSPrecision after reading Mike Phillip's article about branding yourself and now being more serious about doing this as a business. My business cards came in the mail today, and I'm still trying to decide which version I like better. Don't bother going to the website on the card because I'm still in the process of creating it. Let me know what you think! :xyxthumbs:

Fantastic job... I am forever envious of that PTG. What a great tool.

Great turn around! What where your paint correction tools, as in the compound and polish.

-I like the darker background the best.
-The lighter background doesn't provide enough contrast for my tastes. (Could be the old-eyes I now carry around, though)

-But your final selection...is the one that really matters.

As always: Continued success with your Business.

:)

Thanks! I really like the black background and so has everyone else I've showed it too. I ordered both so I could see them in person and decide, but I think I'll just be ordering the black ones in the future.

PTG is nice and will help determine how to proceed when working on a hammered finish.

Great job on the Vette, amazing turn around.
No more drive thru car washes for it I hope!

This damage was caused by the body shop who painted the hood and bumper and trunk lid. Along with the overspray, they hit the entire car with the rotary buffer and really did some serious damage.

Looks great!
Thanks!
