Hi everyone! Obviously a new member here so here's my intro.

I can't say it enough that I wish I knew about this site a long time ago. Used to think detailing was too much of a pain, too time consuming -- and since I've lived in apartments all my adult life --impossible to keep my car looking great.

Can't believe how wrong I was! It was Mike Phillips' thread on the difference between cleaner/wax and finishing wax that really got me started. I just found and bookmarked the 'Articles by Mike Phillips' thread as well, and I have some reading to do.

What's an intro without pictures? I drive a 2005 Mazda 6s Five Door (I bought it in 2010), in Lapis Blue. It's parked outside 24/7 so it's in obvious need of attention. The following pictures show how it looks after only a wash and Meg's UQW. The car has (to my knowledge) never been clayed or polished, and has received more than a few beatdowns from automatic carwashes (my deepest condolences).

Please ignore the rip in the space-time continuum on the driver's side door. I'm sure you hardcore experts will instantly notice it.

Thanks for reading! I have a lot to learn but I'm pretty excited to get started, slowly but surely. This week I'm going to be buying the Meg's Clay Kit, and then borrowing some Meg's UPW, applied by hand. Gotta start somewhere until I can get the funds to get some more products.

Welcome. I think we all wish we had found AG sooner. Great info great product reviews great insight and a great group of people here!

Jiminy crickets..that garage.

It's my parents' house. Can't tell you how many times I've offered to clean the thing, but they don't know what they want to do with the stuff. I figure if it's in the garage not being used, then sell it/give it away/throw it away.

We all wish we knew about proper detailing a lot sooner.

I know it is not close up with a swirl finding light but the "before" pictures you posted, your car looks great

Thanks! And thanks everyone for the welcome.

There are definitely some swirls in there. Surprisingly they're not too terrible for how neglected I've kept it, and even after automatic washes, but maybe the UQW is hiding a few of them.

Welcome and yes I do wish I had known about Auto Geek when I first started detailing, for me it was 12-13 (around there :D)

Either way Welcome!
