Would a finishing glaze improve my shine?

Hey everyone,

I had a little time after work to work on my truck. I just did the tail gate/back end. My process was a wash with turtle wax ice premium car wash, dry with microfiber towels,re-clean with meguiar's quick detailer, (didn't clay as I did that a couple of weeks ago), polished with meguiars ultimate polish and the meguiars da power tool drill attachment on the paint and the chrome painted bumper with the yellow pad, meguiars back to black on all black trim pieces, and then hand applied collinite 845 on everything. I'm very satisfied with the results! I'm just wondering if I used a finishing glaze between polishing and waxing if that would yield much more of an improvement? I actually have a sample of Wolfgang finishing glaze 3.0 on the way so the anticipation is killing me! I didn't post before pictures, just afters. And also should I be applying a paint sealant as well as the wax, or is the collinite already fulfilling that role?

I use Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover (if needed), WG Finishing Glaze, WG Deep Paint Sealant, topped with Collinite 845. I have a black F150 and the results were GREAT!!!

You would have to go back and remove the Collinite which is already a sealant to answer the ones question.

IMO if you are happy with your results then I would leave it be. I don't think you will notice much difference in the gloss of the paint.

Since 845 is a sealant if you wanted to you could top it with a carnuba wax but I think 845 looks best on its own.

It's all in personal preference though.

That sounds like a sweet combination. I'm ready to see/use the Wolfgang products!

So the sealant and wax wouldn't be duplicating each other?

Getting a real polisher (GG6) will help you amp up the shine. Those drill attachment tools is fine for spot buffing and surgical buffing and that's about it. Wolfgang calls their finishing polish a glaze, but it's more a finishing polish than a true glaze. BTW your truck looks pretty good.

Yeah I like the look of the 845 as well! Maybe I'll just try the glaze when it comes in on a small section and compare.

Most sealants will give you a hard candy shine. Using a carnuba wax over a sealant will give you a deeper glow. That is, if you polished your paint correctly. Doing both on that blue would look great.

I'm ready to get a real polisher! I bought the attachment before I found auto geek and so far it's served it's purpose. It's removed some swirls from my wife's car but it's not the end all be all. The deeper imperfections aren't possible to get out with it. I'm just waiting a couple of paycheck a before I buy a polisher. It's not a cheap investment, but I'm thinking I may try to become a weekend warrior and recoup my investment. I'm realizing that I love detailing!

And thanks! The color is awesome in the sun!

Ahhhh I see. So maybe I should apply a carbuba and see how that compares...

Wolfgang's finishing glaze is a polish and not a LSP.
