First off I would like to preamble this post by saying that the level of expertise and unselfish sharing of information here is humbling. I picked up my pride and joy after liquidating nearly everything I could slap a price tag on. It's a 2013 GT500 in Deep Impact Blue. Upon taking delivery I instructed the dealer not to detail the car as I wanted to do the initial cleaning. Inspection of the paint revealed the typical Ford orange peel, which I know there isn't much I can do about. I'm not interested in wet sanding.

I initially washed the car and applied my old go to wax which is the Colonite Insulator Wax. This, as expected provided a nice shine and I was pleased until I started running around the Auto Geek forum and store which turned me on to the Wolfgang 3.0 polish and fusion wax. From what I understand this combination, when applied properly, will provide a stunning result, especially on a dark metallic paint.

My question is as follows: The paint appears to be in really good condition being that there is hardly any swirls or scratches. I took a few pics below. I purchased the Wolfgang items from Auto Geek and also got some Meguiars M105 and M205 with the expectation of using the M205 to remove the LSP and set it up for the polish and wax. I'm afraid that the 205 will do more harm than good.

If the 205 isn't needed what do you suggest I use to set up the paint for the polish and wax?? Thanks in advance.

Wow, that thing look nice...what do you have, tarps on the wall so you can wash inside the garage?

Are you working by hand or machine?

Typically it would be advisable to do some sort of prep before the sealant and wax...did the car still have the plastic on it when you got it? I believe there is a Wolfgang pre-wax cleaner, although you could use the Blackfire or Four Star or Ultima or Sonus or what have you. That might be less invasive than the 205, and you wouldn't have to worry about removing any residual oils from the 205.
 
I suggest a good paint cleaner if you just want to remove 845. Blackfire GEP and Pinnacle Cleansing Lotion are two I always suggest.
 
Im assuming that when you say WG 3.0 you're talking about the TSR 3.0 (Total Swirl Remover)? Also the M205 is the polish, M105 is a compound. I don't think you will need the M105 on your car since you just purchased it and instructed the dealer to not wash it. An judging from your pics the paint seems to be in great shape.

If you want to amp up the gloss I would probably hit it with the M205 and either a white or black pad (the white has light cutting ability while the black has no cutting ability). Make sure you either do a IPA wipe or use CarPro's Eraser to make sure that all the oils are off the paint and it looks the way you want it to.

Once your get the paint where you want it and have done the final wipe you can then move onto the wax!

Sorry when I started typing there weren't any other posts lol. Only reason I thought you meant the TSR 3.0 was because you called it a polish.

Any advice you get would be great advice

I use CG Citrus Wash & Gloss in a higher concentrate to strip off old wax, has always given me the results I'm looking for.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I've had several new cars and when I saw this one and the condition of the paint, being almost swirl free, it told the dealer DON'T TOUCH IT !!!

I have a Porter Cable machine but I'm not afraid to get in there by hand. Yes, there was still plastic on the car when I got it. The tarps are for precisely that, washing 24/7 365. Having a lift is nice too.....I totally bartered for that.

The Wolfgang product I was referring to was the Deep Gloss Sealant 3.0 that I was planning on letting set up for 24 hours after applying and the topping it with the Wolfgang Fuzion wax.

Is it sounds to me like the general consensus it that if the paint is lookin good , use a cleaner to lift off the Colonite and go ahead with the sealant followed by the wax.

In reading other posts, will a chemical product actually strip off the 845?? Which may be why Chris mentioned using thee M205 on the non cutting black pad to set up for the sealant.

Cars can get a lot of junk on them in transit, so look closely at the areas that didn't have plastic on them, in case they need to be clayed/deconned. Machine would be great with a real soft pad and one of the following (not sure there is much difference between most of these):

BLACKFIRE Gloss Enhancing Polish, prewax polish, car polish

Wolfgang Pre-Wax Polish Enhancer is absolutely fabulous for producing that elusive, show-ready wet-shine look. This polish actually enhances and

Sonus Paintwork Cleanser Prewax Polish, pre-wax car polish, Sonus paint cleaner

The slope of the garage sends the water towards the door and into a curtain drain. Thanks for all the product suggestions. If the car wasn't my pride and joy I would be more independently experimental.

The lift is where I was standing. Here's a view from where the back of the car is. Taken before the tarp. The garage is two cars deep.

Ahhh, their sealant is amazing!! I dont think you could go wrong with that combo. I know sportscarhiatus has a 5.0 GT in kona blue and he used the.blacklight v7 combo on it amd it looked dripping wet. Just a suggestionfor the future! An love the car!
 
I just read your reply to the person below mine. I personally wouldnt worry about the few swirls if any right now, I only mentioned the m205 if you wanted to get the paint perfect and amp up the gloss.
 
You are going to find that this fancy expensive stuff is not really better than Collinite, Take before and after pictures prove it to yourself.
