...for detailing or car care in general. I remember the days I used to get up early and find my car covered in that dew in the muggy mornings. I used to take a bath towel and wipe the car clean, but only after I washed it, but still...

Can't believe I did that...

lol now I like to watch it slide off after I start driving. it flies off now that I coated my car

I've been considering going the Opti-Coat route, but now I switched from MPL to 3M Performance Finish, which is what I used for several years. The MPL has been acting really weird. Seems like after 2 weeks of constant rain and driving, it just wears away. I live in Florida, so I'm only dealing with rain and greasy, grimy roads. So far the 3M seems way slicker and actually made the paint on my car pop a little more. My car is silver, kind of a stubborn color to get gloss, and I previously polished the entire car, but the 3M really makes the paint look even more metallic and glossy. I used to use glaze and then sealant, and the 3M all by itself shines better, I think.

I remember a time where black cars were cleaned with windex instead of car soap. I also remember a time where water was suggested as the only thing needed to clean a car. I remember a product called Liquid Ebony as the compound to end all compounds. I remember t-shirts being used to remove waxes as well as diapers.

I don't remember brake fluid being used as tire dressing. I also don't remember how long it took to remove a thick coating of Turtle Wax. I just remember dad talking about "elbow grease".

Come to think about it, theres lots of things in detailing I wish I no longer remembered.

About 10 years ago I watched a neighbor clean his car with a toilet brush and dawn. I am not kidding.

Another neighbor used to throw his sponge on the ground while rinsing whatever section he had just marred up with the dirty sponge.

I used Wolf's Chemicals Hard Body, extremely easy to apply and the reflections left is unbelievable..... Also seems to be holding up very well! Definitely recommend it!

My 55' was painted with black primer and upon delivery it was sprayed with WD-40 to bring out the shine from the dullness lol

I remember putting $20 of gas and I would go out that night lol

(The gas meter/gauge didn't work, I would just hope for the best lol haha)

You're making me feel old!

I remember helping my Dad open his service station on weekends and gas was 5 gallons for $1.00...................this was about 1962

If you were using a traditional glaze, I think that's the answer as to why your Power Lock only lasts 2 weeks.

I thought Ebony was a glaze?

You consider that a coating? I thought I read some reviews that argued that.

I remember people buying $1 of gas...I think now $1 only gets you the fumes that come out of the hose before the liquid :p

Age is all a state of mind. My Dad just turned 62 (around there)

And he said he feels 40 lol

He believes education and health are priceless and loves reading books.

(I think that's where I get that from, mostly books need to go back the the gym :D)

When I turned 16 (in 2003) and got my license gas was $2.50 per gallon. Now it's ridiculous I am glad I have a 4 banger. Haha

Gas was a little over a dollar per gallon when I started driving in 01. Good thing, everywhere I went in my Z28 the pedal was to the floor.
