Klasse SG User's---Is It Really This Easy?

I'm just getting set up to start using a DA polisher and want to use Klasse AIO & HGSG. I've read about difficulty others have had with the SG process and convinced myself I'd figure out how to use the machine to apply and buff out. Then I found these videos.

So tell me, is this really all there is to it? Seems like, with such little Glaze used, there might not be much protection. If it is this easy, I doubt I'll mess with the polisher for the SG steps.

Yeah, it's easy, but as with most products, and particularly with Klasse...THIN IS IN. Keep it so thin you have to really look hard to tell if you have any on there, and you'll do fine.

So ya think for those who have had trouble it most likely was because of too much product? I've read about streaking, haze, hard to buff out which all sound like that could be a cause.
 
Yes, too much product. Especially with the SG, it has to be put on whisper thin.
 
I still find a misting small hair spray bottle is just the ticket, spritz buff and rebuff as necessary. Allow 24 hours to fully cure like most old school sealants.
 
I have used this now on both of my cars. I used those videos as references as well. It's not that complicated. As stated a nice thin coat is all you need. 2 coats seems to be a good amount to put on of KSG. I let KSG sit on the car for 30 min's before I removed it and I let the car sit in the garage overnight prior to putting the second coat.

This will be the next method I use next time.
 
I just started using KSG a month ago and I can vouch for the fact that a THIN coating on a COOL surface is best. Higher temps and too much KSG will lead to difficulties. Also the 2nd coat of KSG is easier to apply and remove once the first coat has cured.
 
OK you guys have convinced me. I let a Pro detail my new red car after a couple months and was impressed. He used Klasse. I'm still happy after 6 months so thought I'd stick with that to keep things simple. Will I need to start over with AIO every other app of SG? (Daily driver).

I guess that would depend on how the car is cared for and how long you go between applications of SG and periodic re-evaluations of the paint's finish. I would suggest doing a baggie test.

That will tell you if there are bonded contaminants on the paint that need removed by claying. Don't worry, if you've never clayed, it's EASY! If there are bonded contaminants, you will need to clay and re apply the AIO. I'm sure others will chime in here.
 
Very interesting. I still haven't tried KSG yet but I probably will one of these days.

Curious though. What is it about SG that you can use so much quick detailer (based on the video above) on the removal stage that you're not actually taking product away from the paint and not just the residue. If you did that with a carnauba wax for example you'd probably be undoing the protection you just applied wouldn't you?

Maybe it's because Klasse is an acrylic and most QD's are not. It takes like to remove like and since the QD's don't contain acrylic that would dissolve the Klasse it shouldn't be able to remove anything other than the residue.
 
For KSG, I use a round yellow foam sponge type applicator. I slightly dampen the sponge with water, just a few drops then add the KSG. Less than one half KSG as shown on the video. As it is wiped on the paint, it just disappears. After a few hours to assure dryness, I wipe with a microfiber, but usually nothing to wipe. The second and subsequent coats of KSG go on by feel as it becomes slick. I don't use quick detailer to remove. But, I may try this method. KSG lasts a long time.

I use a dry terry-covered foam sponge and I put a single, thin line of SG on the pad, this will cover an entire panel or half of the hood. The first time that I tried to use SG, the damp (perhaps too damp) applicator made removal a bit difficult.

Who uses QD to remove KSG?! If this is the case, your applying KSG waaaaaaay to thick and/or working in the sun. I've been using the Klasse twins since 2005 w/o a single issue, ever!

KSG is very easy to use, keep the pad damp, use one spray once you put some KSG into a small spray bottle and wipe it in real good and wipe off right away, move to next panel. Repeat process 12 hrs later for a real noticeable difference, trust me! Less is more when using KSG, one squirt from the sprayer is enough to do a panel, just keep the pad damp but not soaking wet.
