Best vacuum?

What is the best affordable vacuum for cars? I have THIS EUREKA and it works great, but the vacuum is a bit too big to vacuum comfortable in a car. Are there any alternatives that work great in around the same price range?
 
a shop vac from lowes or home depot is a great choice i uses it and its the perfect size
 
I myself am looking to pick up a 5 hp Rigid. Remember, more HP, the better! Tim Taylor says so!
 
Every single one of you said a shop vac, lol! I had no idea they were that preferred for detailing an interior. How well do they work with trapped pet hair and things like that?
 
Remember...he's referencing a $50 price point, hence my suggestion on used.

I actually have a 12 gallon Shop Vac but don't have all of the attachments that came with it when I first bought it. Which attachment is the best for carpets and seats in a car?

The Rigid auto detailing kit ($40 at Home Depot) is the preferred choice among many of us. I'd link, but don't want to violate AG rules.

How about the micro vacuum attachment kit on amazon for the Bissell that I already have? Are those too small? I figure I'd ask about the cheaper alternative first and if that's not good enough then I'll go for the Rigid kit.

edit: nevermind, I just realized how ridiculously small they are.

I use the smaller version because I will sometimes load everything up and go semi-mobile if someone is willing to let me use their water and power. If you already own a shop vac it should work just fine. I'd say 5hp or better if its available. The two attachments I use most often is the claw shaped one and the "duck foot" one. (don't know how else to describe it) Pet hair can be a bit of a pain even with a high power vacuum as it likes to imbed itself in the carpet or upholstery. Those rubber pet hair brushes work well to first lift the hair out so you can vacuum it up. I've also used lint rollers to get pet hair up.
 
I know this thread is a little old but just wanted to let everyone know of what I think is a great deal. First time poster, long time reader.

I got the Ridgid 14 gal. 6.0 Peak High Performance Wet/Dry Vac with Free Auto Detail Kit, for $72 (including txes and fees).

Homedepot have it for $89 currently and they honored the 20% off Harbor-freight coupon (printed of the internet) at my local store.

It is a lot bigger from what I was originally looking for, but for that price it's great. it also include the Car detailing Kit which by itself is $40.
 
I use my Ridgid 5 hp, 16 gallon shop vac with the Ridgid Premium car cleaning kit accessory. The accessory has a fairly long, smaller than standard, flexible hose. The attachments are useful as well. The hose is alot easier to work with than the standard and attachments are designed for car care.

A smaller vac would work as well but I use my shop vac for alot more than the car. I believe the car care accessory is about $40.
