Seriously

You hit the nail right on the head...along with several others on here. Now I get to call her with the estimates...I fully expect another confrontation. I've been screwed over before...not this time!!!
Fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me!!

Reminds me of this:

Im trying to figure out why it was important to mention the womans race. if the woman was white with two kids would it be worth mentioning.

Good luck with that call Dave, curious to hear how that goes...

I told her she better not move the vehicle. Finally the cops get there and the officer has her unlock the vehicle...slowly opens the door and saw it was a perfect match. The officer just closed the door and looked at her like "are you %^$# stupid?? lol

Then the woman's whole demeanor changed. Bottom line she's paying to get my car fixed. She could have saved us both a lot of frustration if she just would have admitted that it happened and apologized.

GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD!!!!!!!!

Oh my GOSH, I love reading things like this - someone that actually takes initiative and STANDS UP for themselves! So many people would have just shrugged and gotten into their car, mad and frustrated, and paid to have it fixed at some point a few years later.

KUDOS Dave, seriously! I loved this post. People think they can totally ruin and wreck OTHER PEOPLE'S property and valuables - NOPE!

Maybe you didn't notice what kind of community you registered to be a part of? This is a detail forum. Car detailing is called that, because of the detail that goes into it. We read the posts and reviews, because of the details included. Dave tells his story, with the details included. Race is an issue because people want to make it an issue. Don't turn this into something it's not.

I agree 1000%. I was tempted to respond to this last night after initially reading this post, but I left it alone. Says a lot about a persons character/mindset when they feel a need to identify a persons race while telling a story. In this situation I don't see the relevance of identifying the woman's race other than to maybe contribute a negative stigma towards a "race of people". Happens all the time...

What a joke!!! (Your justification of 'detail forum') Actually Dave opened that door about the importance of race by "identifying" the lady's race in his initial thread.. Again, what relevance does her race contribute to this thread?? Thought so... I guess you may be reading this thread 'with your eyes closed'...

I understand it completely - but I also understand the tick and urge to manufacturer artificial disdain and confusion concerning the race identification. Makes us feel so courageous and bold to stand up for something that ultimately is pointless. He was telling a story, and included multiple details, and for anyone with a pulse who has encountered a person with a skin hue not identical to theirs, it ends up becoming relevant because the whole situation is needless and frustrating beyond belief.

Personally, I'm way more annoyed that people are acting annoyed at the inclusion of skin color... acting reverent is so silly and self-serving. I see character WAYYYY before I see skin color, but who cares, that doesn't mean I'm going to get onto a detailing forum and read a story and HUFF AND PUFF. You racist! I bet you think all black women have two kids and dent cars and lie about it! See...... who cares. Bleh.

Well I'm glad he said her race, because I'm such a racist. I can understand what was going on a little better. It's the "details" that make a great story!

Moderator, do us all a favor and close this thread.. It has no substance or value towards detailing and is potentially going to get out of hand...

If I offended anyone I apologize. Yes if it was white woman I would have said white woman...if it was an asian woman I would have said asian woman. I don't think about race so I didn't think about it offending anyone.
I thank God that when I see my kids with their friends it isn't a big deal they can joke about race and the different stupid stereotypes and no one gets offended. I've dated white, black, and Asian women. All my children have dated black and white and asian...except my daughter she hasn't dated any white guys. I'm sorry I forgot hispanic. My oldest son is married to a mexican girl.
So please forgive me a was a descriptive term. There were no implications intended!

Dave, I commend and thank you for taking a moment to further explain and provide more 'details' on your original thread. Classy for sure. Now those are valuable 'details' that explain your position and reason behind indentifying the lady's race. Unfortunately I and possibly many on this forum still experience, live and work in areas where race has always and will continue to be a deciding factor. Sadly, but true, many still deny and refuse to see it, whether they participate in it or not. Based on many of the responses, I think some people don't realize some things they just can't understand and shouldn't comment on if they've never experienced it and experienced it their entire lives. It's so easy to dismiss something that you aren't familiar with nor ever experienced on a reocurring basis.

I didn't take your post personally nor was I offended by it but I did take notice to the race identification immediately, because where I live many still purposely identify a persons race to 'compliment' the story they are telling. I see and experience this all the time. As we live, so shall we continue to learn. At 42, I'm definitely still learning and teaching, based on my own experiences rather than other's opinions.

OP, reading this thread was such a relief for me.
Loved every word of the first post.

Props to you for standing your ground and holding your own.
I for one have learned from your experience!
:goodpost:

I wonder if the cops here in Toronto entertain calls like these...

There it is, end of story, and people should stop being so sensitive.

Glad your situation ended the way it did. Lady sure deserved it!
