Very Brief Wheel Cleaner Reviews (Sonax FE, P21S Gel, CG Diablo Gel)

I use the Chemical Guys Foaming sprayers... the above images of Sonax FE are using said sprayers. You can see the reflection of the bottle/sprayer.

I just bought a 3-pack of SFE. So you don't use the sprayers that come on the bottles? Does the foam spayer help you use less product or just better cling...or both? I see Griots has a foam sprayer...anyone know if Advance carries those in the stores?

A foam sprayer will use significantly more product. I would not do that with sfe if I were you. It is designed to 'cling' to the wheel so a foam will not help.

Good to know. Thank you for the reply!

Nice review, my next wheel cleaner purchase will be Sonax FE.., although recently I used some Groits Garage Wheel cleaner, was pleased with it. My wheels do not get too dirty, so I have no idea how well GG wheel cleaner works on neglected rims.

^Foam sprayers do use significantly more product... I keep one bottle of wheel cleaner with a typical sprayer and another one with a foaming sprayer. I like the foaming sprayers on highly neglected wheels that really need to be covered with cleaner, but in general I prefer the traditional adjustable sprayers.

I don't use the Sonax Bottles because I have always bought the cleaner in the gallon size and therefore do not have a smaller SFE bottle.

^ To be honest... if you keep your wheels clean then you don't need SFE. I never even use a wheel cleaner on my wheels (unless I let them get particularly dirty). Typically I just foam them and they clean up really easily.

I just bought the spray bottles since they were buy 2 get one free. Seemed a good way to try it out before buying bulk.

I agree on not needing it for wheels that aren't neglected. I'm going to do a full wheel off cleaning on my vehicles with a clay and seal before winter. Thought it would be good for that to get some of those areas I haven't touched with the speedmaster, or that were already too dirty when I started using the speedmaster. From there, probably just use it a couple times a year for spring/winter details and for customers. I get by just fine with an APC for regular maintenance washes. After I seal them, I'll probably just be able to use the DG 901 on them so I don't risk the APC stripping the sealant.

If you're going to go through the trouble of doing a full wheels off detail... I would highly suggest coating every inch of your wheels while you have them off and surgically clean. Just my $0.02 :xyxthumbs:

I cant even count how many wheel cleaners ive used. Ive had varying degrees of results but when considering effectiveness and price I go with megs apc+.

I love the results with p21s. Its cost prohibit me from using it all the time though.

sonax full effect...meh. I did experience dulling on my wifes sonata wheels. Ordered a 6 pack from another site, got good deal, used a lot of product it seemed, wont use again.

properly diluted, dont let dry on wheel, penny for penny its megs apc+ hands down every time for me.
