Driving behind someone, what frustrates you?

What is this washer fluid you all speak of?

My car just has a "Tailgater Defense System" that sprays stuff on the guy tailgating me. Admittedly, it's a last-resort defense, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

This brought back great memories of my old Focus. I flipped the back hatch sprayer upside down so it would “take care" of the tailgaters. Worked great!

Slow mergers on the interstate.

Mergers between hi-ways when people expect me to get in the fast lane. Slow down or speed up people. Don't match my speed! :screwy:

Or what about when people purposely slow down or speed up to keep you from getting on the highway. How spiteful people can be.

I hate it when I'm stuck behind drivers who do 5 or 10 miles under the speed limit and they're going so slow that I can't pass them, lol.

One time an old truck with a small trailer was in front of me and every bump in the road he hit, it was spewing dusty dirt all over my car. Whipped around him real quick. I've also gotten cars spraying out oil from the exhaust and all over my car. Had black oil spots all over the front bumper and hood and also smeared on the windshield.

It also bothers me when drivers in front of me can't stay in their lane, they just sway from side to side. Really irritates me.

You know. I'm starting to think we are just a bunch of OCD angry drivers! LOL

  1. People who slam on the brakes, then drive extremely slowly over road-level train tracks
  2. Early-and-long brakers, the kind that brake 1/2 mile from the red light and then coast at 5mph until they get to it
  3. People who don't accelerate from the on-ramp to the highway. Are you gonna hit the highway going 35???? Stellar, then me and all the cars behind us will get rear-ended by those going 75 or we'll just stop & sit at the bottom of the ramp cuz we were too slow to merge into traffic.

Ugh, I hate number 3. For a while, I kept getting stuck behind a Ford Ranger, not sure if it was a man or woman driving, but damn, they would merge onto I-4 going 35, maybe 40 and would not speed up. That is too damn slow and can actually be dangerous. People in the slow lane on I-4 are going no less than 60 and the Ranger has the nerve to merge going 20 to 25 miles less, mostly more since other drivers are going faster than 60. So damn annoying.

Really, texting / phone crap drives me nuts - it's so obvious when you're coming up on someone who is totally distracted - very annoying. :bat:

I've been known to invent little Rube Goldberg type contraptions from time to time. I'd like to design a fluid ejector system that sprays directly out of the trunk lid of my car onto tailgater's cars. The possibilities are endless as to what fluids could be stored in the reservoir.

Have dual reservoirs in fact.... one with washer fluid as a simple warning to back off...the second reservoir could contain old drain oil or something much worse for the people who ignore the first warning.

Install a couple of these on the dash and a couple systems in the trunk.

I've been known for chasing people before.

A few years back, I was going to my girlfriend's house and I had a car right on my butt. No sooner when I put my turn signal on, he just wrapped around me, not even giving me time to complete my turn. Once he whipped around me, I got right back behind him, flashed my brights and raced up on his rear end. I hope I scared him. :)

I really try hard to control any overreaction about this kind of stuff - truth is, these days it can get you shot. Sometimes, the momentary burst of ego is just unavoidable though. :dunno:

Driving tests, real ones, need to come back in some shape or form. Along with that, when you hit a certain age you MUST have a road test and I don't care if you were driving 20 yrs before I was born either, THAT'S THE POINT!

Please keep this fact in mind....DRIVING ISN'T A RIGHT, ITS A PRIVILEDGE!

Funny you mention people tail gating you, since i almost always drive 10mph over the limit, and have someone on my butt on a 35mph road per say, i sometimes get a little cocky and just throw it in Sport mode and gun it, no one ever caught up lol..yet.

when someone taps their brakes when I'm tailgating them. The nerve!

^^ lol..

Seeing from what everyone posts, if this was real life, a fist fight would definately happen.

Couldn't agree with those two points anymore. People just assume driving is their god given right and abuse it. I also think you should be require to get on a highway in order to pass your road test. Too many people get on the highway and can't merge, change lanes, keep up with traffic etc

If you are in front of me... I hate you period and end of story!
lol

I went out for lunch few minutes ago at work and saw a maintenance guy power washing the sidewalk by their building and all the dirt and mess that was washing off was flying towards the Chrysler that was waiting at the light..i thought to myself..man would i hate that guy.

Like someone mentioned earlier in the thread, I am also a very calculated driver. Every other driver's decision affects the decisions that I make. I drive a car that stands out like a sore thumb and you can see me coming from a mile away so get out of my way lol.

These are the things that really grind my gears:

1. When people drive side by side 5 mph under the speed limit with no way to pass.

2. When people brake check. (Most of these drivers don't realize that while the tailgating driver may get a ticket for following to close, Insurance companies will find the brake checking driver at fault as they are the one that caused the accident)

3. When slower drivers ride the left lane. (The left lane is a passing lane use it that way!)

Personally I think that the driving tests need to be more strict. I do however think that there need to be different levels of testing. If someone has more advance driving skills and can handle higher speeds they should be allowed to.

Thats my two cents.
