Rupes washer mod

What size washer do you use?? I tried a 5/16 and seem like its to small!!

Isn't that pad suppose to keep spinning?

I contacted Kevin brown and it's a standard 8mm washer. Fits perfect.

It has been said that Rupes does not recommend this but it will not violate the warranty.

i bought the 1/4" size washer at home depot..diameter is perfect just need to spend 2min to grind down or dremal down the sides to match the shape

Kevin Brown has contacted Rupes about this mod to ensure that it does not and will not affect the warranty of the machine. Kevin has made a lengthy write up of his findings with the washer mod.

This mod allows there to be just enough space to deactive that safety mech that the Rupes has. The safety feature is when that backing plate spins too fast the backing plate gets stopped or will slow down by the rubber shroud that is on the housing.

With the added space with the washer in place the backing plate can spin without being stopped.
