I just bought a 2016 Suburban LTZ in black! I have a ton of detailing experience, especially with waxes and sealant but NEVER any coatings. I am thinking about using a coating, any recommendations of a good one that is VERY durable and is very easy to use?

Not much looks worse then a clean-shiney car, clean wheels, dressed tires and filthy barrels that can be seen. Most modern day alloy wheels have the barrels visable, so I clean mine EVERY wash.

I have a 1999 Camaro SS and it came from SLP. The paint is base/clear, not single stage. Non of the 4th gens 1993-2002 use single stage, I wouldn't be surprised if all the 3rd gens used base/clear. I know my 1987 and 1988 Irocs were NOT single stage and neither were my 1989, 1991 or 1995...
