What kind of buffer and pads will you use? That was the only thing I hated about my STi was the super thin paint.
I'd be careful around the chips and scratches down to the paint. On my old car I buffed around it and the pad grabbed an edge of a chip and made it bigger.
On a side note, Any mods?

I like to try and save too. I've been using folex or diluted megs apc and just scrubbing with a brush. I then use my Stanley wet dry vac to extract and its been working well for me. I saw that there are brush attachments for Porter cables, that might help with scrubbing stubborn stains.

I've had a passport.8500 for awhile and it's saved me countless times. Valentine 1 is good cause it has arrows telling you where the radar is coming from.
