Credit card fees.... who's charging them?

    That's not necessarily true anymore.

    Glass

I use these to wipe down the glass, sometimes twice if they are really dirty. This almost always leaves some sort of streaks, especially towards the end as even though I fold to clean sides of the towel, it still gets pretty wet. After that I take the below microfiber with the very low pile side...

    Hiring employees

If you set up a place where the people go and pick up equipment then then drive to a job, you will have to pay them from the pick up location to the job site.

    Hiring employees

Would not be legal. This is a huge area right now with the IRS and the government. Below is the think to the IRS, but if you control when they work, what they work on, what they use to work, which are all items described above, it is not legal to classify them as an Independent Contractor. Tax...

Post yard signs or mail out

SEO is huge! the more you can update your site the better. Post blogs, change photos. While I do not know how to do it, you are able to put loads of key words in the back ground of the site. I think you can type them in the background the same color as the background so you dont actually see it.

You need to check with your state labor laws. Obviously I would not recommend paying under the table, especially in a business like this where there is so much customer interaction, and potential for issue. Once again check your state laws, but in most you are not required to pay mileage/...

That depends on the area you market. There are quite a few areas here where I would say well over 1/2 the people get their cars detailed. He is also not talking about going door to door, I used that as an example. He is talking about direct marketing target areas. I get stuff in the mail all the...

    Expense and Income Tracking

The fact that you think it is, shows its not. The first thing to remember is a tax person and a bookkeeper/accountant do not always have the same priorities. Are you tracking this for tax purposes, or knowing the performance of the business? As mentioned, someone that is doing your taxes wants...

Post yard signs or mail out

I wholeheartedly disagree with the bolded. Why do you think so many companies still go door to door? Just because you are not searching for a specific service does not mean you would not want to use it. People are innately impulse buyers. I was wanting to get weed control for my yard for months...

    Renny Doyle's book

It is a must read of anyone wanting to start a business that has not managed/been heavily involved in running a business. It has very little to do with detailing outside of that is they type of business he started. While his book is great, I would not use it, or anything else, as your sole...

Post yard signs or mail out

Those are great options, and definitely something everyone should use. The problem however is they are limited to people looking for your services. Yard signs and direct mailers do that less effectively than what you do above, but they also reach people that are not actively searching for your...
