Is it a fair comparison to use vertical and horizontal surfaces? I'm no pro, but beading is influenced by surface tension and gravity. Bob

I'm no glass expert, but since it is the windshield (which is laminated), it could be the plastic layer is delaminating from the two glass layers and appears to be foggy.

Lowes has their own 5 gallon blue buckets for $2.57 right now. Not sure if it's a sale price. Bob
