Flex 3401 owners what do you use on tight areas where a smaller pad is required

As a product guy myself, I'm guessing they faced tradeoffs in cost, effectiveness or both. At the end of the day, the Flex is a machine for a specific purpose. I've really liked mine. My PC is used for certain tasks, or when I'm not interested in being as aggressive as the Flex allows me to...

    which has more cut?

Seems like you'd have trouble with a medium abrasive polish and such a light pad as the white. IMHO, either of these with an orange pad, and SSR1 with the white if you're going for a really fine finish. In my system, white pads are only used for glaze.

    griots 3" orange pads?

I have a 6" orange LC pad and a Griot's 3" orange in my hand, and the LC feels firmer and less soft. I'd say it has more cut. This would be consistent with my experience with the 6" Griot's pads as well - noticed that the orange LC pads was more effective.

New Griots 6 Inch Polish- New and Improved!

I really doubt you'll be unhappy. The specs look strong, and their return policy is really terrific (180 days). I'd appreciate it if you'd post some comments when you get it.

Newbie: First try with PC questions/comments

Yellow pads have their place. In my experience, hazing isn't caused by too aggressive a pad/polish combo, but by not allowing the polish to fully break down and finish the process before you quit. That said, a yellow pad is for fairly serious correction. I also use the LC black pads for wax...

New Griots 6 Inch Polish- New and Improved!

I used my Griot's polisher with fine results using Lake Country Pads and the our Polishes/Glaze/Waxes. It has a fairly standard hook and loop backing plate that worked well with the Lake Country pads we put in our kit. Here was a quick pass using the Griot's orbital with the GlossHaus stuff...

New Griots 6 Inch Polish- New and Improved!

I currently own a Flex and a PC 7424XP. Our shop-polisher/buffer is the previous 7424 and I've owned the previous-generation Griot's RO (recently sold it). I also have a 3" pneumatic RO for tight work. I doubt the Griot's is the PC XP re-badged. I think it is a knock-off of the 7424. My...

    Installing 6" Counterweight?

The 6" counterweight is mainly required for heavier pads - there is a range, but I'm sitting in the passenger seat on the way to SC, so I don't have it handy. The only 6" polishing pad that is OK with the 5" weight is the one supplied from the factory. Add the LC rubber hook-and-loop backing...

    Installing 6" Counterweight?

OK - so I've spent time with my supplier (I'm taking ownership of GlossHaus, and the 7424XP is part of our kit), Porter Cable Customer Care, and the local DeWalt Service Center. The first two were puzzled. the last one explained that crushing the nub with the 6" counterweight won't compromise...

    Installing 6" Counterweight?

Just got my 7424XP which came with a 5" counterweight installed and a 6" counterweight in the box. The 5" weight comes out easily enough, but there is a small plastic/hard rubber "nub" that is in a gap in the shape of the 5" weight but makes the 6" weight tilt since the entire side is flat...
