    Hello and Headlight Restoration

Iv'e gotten calls from people that have used a 3M kit saying it was a wast of money in terms of the final outcome (most likely because they don't know how to use the sand paper) and the longevity of the UV cote. If there's an auto body supply store in your area you can usually buy paper by the...

Hey Riles, Did you get my reply?

    Hello and Headlight Restoration

Absolutely, PM me. I'll do my best to help ya out. Your on the money with your thinking except that you need to have a UV curable top cote. Using a paste type of sealer will only last as long as it stays on. It's just the same as using wax or a sealer on a cars paint. It eventually wares off...

    Hello and Headlight Restoration

Hey Kdubski, I say it's a temp fix because, unless there's a UV top cote used, the deterioration will come back once the polish wares off. Of course it depends how bad the lens is to begin with. If there's slight yellowing/hazing I guess the compound method could work. It's a tricky thing. To...

    Hello and Headlight Restoration

Those grits will all work great. I even use 220 to make quick work of badly deteriorated lenses and I always finish up with 2500. To do a complete refinish can take up to an hour or more. Compound and polishes only work as a temporary fix and will NOT last. It's not correcting the problem...

    *** L.I.N.Y - Where's the money in 2011

One question is about advertising and whats working and the other question is, in a nut shell, are people spending money here and how is business looking for the coming season? It's kinda an open question.

    *** L.I.N.Y - Where's the money in 2011

Hey guys, Whats the feeling for this year and what kind of advertising is working? I'm by sunrise near Rte112. My feeling is that the money is to go way south or way north, like starting at Rte25. I still have to detail part time but I'm looking to step it up a bit. I think a friend of...

    Monthly maintenance prices, etc

I was thinking more along the lines of private clients. Forget the dealers, although they are good for "busy work". Say for instance, you just detailed a car and your client is more than pleased with the out come and your work. You took the time to explain how to care for the car. Then, you hit...

    Hey from N.Y.L.I

Hello to all from Long Island. I'm new to the board but not to Auto Geek or to detailing. I'v been detailing for 20+ years. I started out in new car dealerships and was taught the old school way from old school detailers. It's amazing how much this industry has changed through the years. And...
