I use the LC 5in backing plate on my PC and the 5.5in pads and they work great. lake country 5 inch backing plate, 5 inch backin plate, 5 inch hook and loop backing plate

As Bill said above... I only use it on the barrel of the wheel where it is dirty and full of brake dust. I even use a scotch brite pad which is even more abrasive with no problem, at least on a Corvette wheel, which has a painted barrel.:dblthumb2:

Once a year I take off all 4's and clean with mothers wheel cleaner and Magic eraser, clean rotors and everything I can get at .Quick and easy job. :xyxthumbs:
