Thanks for everyone's comments. I'm feeling a lot better about it and have some confidence to start the correction on my 63 VW shortly. I ordered some 4" pads that I thought would help around the chrome and body lines. Classic VW's may be small, but I feel you don't get as much open paint areas...
That was gonna be my next purchase to try. I've seen it mentioned a lot.

Hey Buster,
It's a 2005cc full flowed, extra sump and 40 Webers. It's enough to get me in and out of trouble. Cooling hasn't been a problem, but I stay out of stop and go traffic in the summer here in AZ.
