Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

Apparently I wasn't clear. I did replace the 6" BP that comes with the unit with a 5" from CG. I bought a 2nd unit and a 2nd BP (not CG) but I haven't tried it out yet so I don't know if their 5" BP is the same exact size as CG's. The CG BP though as I said is about exactly the size of the...

Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

I'm finding that their pads tear up on a 5" also. The reason is that MY 5" is exactly the same size of the HF pad backing and maybe just a smidgen, like 1/16" larger. You have to nail it perfectly to not have the backing plate velcro touching foam and even then it's so close that they are...

    Polishing the Hood

I've tried both ways. The two vehicles I've done are actually trucks. The first was an F-150 so the middle of the hood was quite a reach. I ended up on a step stool and leaning over the front to get to it. The second vehicle was a small 94 Toyota truck. Not near as far as the F-150 but it...

    Polishing the Hood

Two cars down and countless to go. I'm using a DA and I seem to be having a bit of a problem when it comes to the hood. Specifically the middle back of the hood. Unlike the front of the hood or any side panels, I'm more reaching than being square over the polisher. What I find happening is...

    Foam Pad dilemma

A quick update. I used the Lake Country white pad today and was pleased with it's result and performance. If I were pressed at this time I'd say I'd would buy them again. I'll have to see how quickly these dry and how well they cleaned up but I have to say I did enjoy the flat surface. I...

    Foam Pad dilemma

Part of the problem with the HF pads on the HF DA is that the HF DA's backing plate is 6" but the velcro on the back of the HF Pad is 5 or 5.5". That means there is foam touching the backing plate. I bought one of each color just to try out on my 5" backing plate to see if they are indeed trash...

    Rubber Gloves

After using QD's and Spray Waxes and glass cleaner and seeing what it was doing to my poor soft hands I started to use gloves. I started with the thin Target brand latex gloves when using the glass cleaner. I foudn some 6.3mil Nitrile Gloves online and those were the bomb but much more...

    Foam Pad dilemma

I'm a complete noob to this area (as you are) and I've had my DA for 1 1/2 weeks now. Initially I got 3 sets of Orange/White/Black Hex Logic 5.5's. I only got Orange because I had a big job to do on my 99 F-150. My other vehicles probably will never see Orange. When I ordered something else...

    Foam Gun Mixture

I believe it's about 2 oz plus the water. I fill it with the water first otherwise it foams up inside. It seems that each squeez out of the 16 oz bottle will give about 1 oz of product so I use 2 squeezes. It's not a foam cannon so I don't expect lather but I do get good foam. I use the E...

The Post a Picture of Your Ride as it Sits Thread

My reflection after just waxing my car tonight.

    Metro MasterBlaster

I have the little $60 guy. It blows a ton. The only issue is that it's a very small area. It's great to blow out the door jams and the insides of the hatchback. Also great for grill work to get the water out. It's not going to dry your car though. For that you need the monster version.

Reason to keep my cheap orbital?

Excellent. OK, I got it! I waxed my new black car for the 1st time tonight and the shine was unbelievable using the DA. I now have an item for my next Yard Sale!

Reason to keep my cheap orbital?

I just picked up a Dual Action Polisher with 5.5" pads. After polishing I used it on my truck and auto to do my waxing. It did a great job and I'm wondering if there is a reason I should keep my 10" Orbital Polisher to either put on or remove wax?

What's in your trunk - do you keep a clean up kit?

I've just ordered a set of the 4oz spray bottles for exactly this purpose. I plan on carrying: Stoner's Invisible Glass Ecowash Some MF towels That should handle any goop I might encounter while out and about that is annoying. :props:

Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

My 1st post! Long story short, got a new Kia Soul (BLACK!) and got back into the swing of exterior car care. Been restocking and trying all kinds of new products since my last foray in this area over 1/2 a decade ago. My '99 F-150 needed some desparate love so I clayed, polished and waxed it...
