Polishing the Hood

Two cars down and countless to go. I'm using a DA and I seem to be having a bit of a problem when it comes to the hood. Specifically the middle back of the hood. Unlike the front of the hood or any side panels, I'm more reaching than being square over the polisher. What I find happening is that I'm getting a bounce or buffeting when working that section. It seems like part of the reason is that I'm working on a piece of metal that isn't very strong and the vibration of the DA just gets amplified through the metal and it becomes a mess.

So what's the technique to trying to keep the DA flat and smooth through these parts of the car? Push harder? Work the middle section first so I can lean on the front or side of the hood?
 
Are you trying to polish the back of the hood from the front? If you are just move to the side of the hood.
 
I've tried both ways. The two vehicles I've done are actually trucks. The first was an F-150 so the middle of the hood was quite a reach. I ended up on a step stool and leaning over the front to get to it. The second vehicle was a small 94 Toyota truck. Not near as far as the F-150 but it still forced my arms to be extended. I'm 6'0" so I'm not a small guy. I feel like I have a firm grip on the polisher but it just isn't reacting the way it does on all the other parts of the vehicle.
