Natural Sea Sponge Scratched the Sh*t out of my Car!

Bump! Apparently the scratches were not as bad as they appeared. Perhaps the scratches were in the protective coating from my previous detail rather than the clear coat? Is that possible? After a bunch of washes they started to get less severe, but still there non-the-less. I finally manned up...

Natural Sea Sponge Scratched the Sh*t out of my Car!

Well the only product I have now is XMT 360... I don't know if it's even worth trying. I guess I'll start with the hood since I don't really care if I screw the hood up (it's dented/dinged). If the 360 is doing nothing then I guess I'll place an order for something stronger. I will say that the...

Natural Sea Sponge Scratched the Sh*t out of my Car!

Well... I don't know how else you can explain it. Everything was clean, the bucket, the water, and I thoroughly sprayed the car before even touching it with the sponge. I never had problems like this with the schmidt... The only variable that changed this time around was going from the schmidt...

Natural Sea Sponge Scratched the Sh*t out of my Car!

I'm really not that pissed though because I have a brand new UDM sitting here waiting to be used, and I was planning on detailing it soon anyway. But at the same time, the worlds gentlest sponge is not supposed to be scratching my finish like this. They're not exactly swirl marks, but straight...

Gonna make the Purchase, Some Quick Questions...

Got everything in the mail today, that was like newegg shipping speed! :D I don't think I mentioned it but I also threw a sea sponge into my order. I'm looking at it right now, it's still sealed in plastic but it looks like there is sand everywhere adhering to the plastic. Extremely tiny...

Gonna make the Purchase, Some Quick Questions...

Cool... so I don't need to do anything special like wash it with dish detergent to remove any leftover sealant/waxes or whatever the detailer used, right? Just wash it normally and go straight to buffing? Thanks Pauly.

Gonna make the Purchase, Some Quick Questions...

So you're saying that I'm going to spend hours detailing the car, only to find out a few washes later that the same exact swirls are still there? Wonderful! Pauly, it's not like the orange pad is going to tear my paint apart right? If what this guy is saying is true about hiding and not...

Gonna make the Purchase, Some Quick Questions...

Order has been placed. I only got one but I can always recondition it right? And yeah, intro kit does have white pads, but isn't 360 very light on the swirl removal? If I want to remove swirls wouldn't the orange pad be the best bet?

Gonna make the Purchase, Some Quick Questions...

Orange is better for someone completely new like myself though, right? The description for yellow pads says for serious swirls/oxidation only? Should I buy a yellow anyway?

Thanks guys. Will one orange pad do? Or should I go for two?

Gonna make the Purchase, Some Quick Questions...

So yeah, I paid $250 to have my car detailed at the beginning of this summer, using good Menzerna products none-the-less, and here we are again with mild swirls and never before seen hazing on the passenger door (forgot the actual term, it's on the tip of my tongue... it's that weird effect...

    I Give Up

Thank you. I really don't think he used fillers as he was listing off some expensive products and gave me absolutely no obligation to get my car done, just kind of a "here are your options" type of speech, and "you call me if you decide to go for it." Very nice guy. How about elbow grease...

    I Give Up

I had it done here: RECONDITION USA It's not like a tremendous amount of swirls came back, it's still pretty damn swirl free for the most part, but it does seem like it has more than it had directly after the detailing.

    I Give Up

You know, I just had my car professionally detailed, looked amazing, some swirls still remaining when viewed in direct sunlight, but still a 500% improvement from the brillo pad washed car that it used to look like. Yesterday was the first time I washed it since it was detailed, I made sure to...

    Gonna Order One...

So after all is said and done it might be cheaper to just bring the car to a reputable shop?
