    205 on a orange pad

I've used 205 with an orange pad a lot. It is a great combo. I've been using 205 with a hydro tech cyan pad with great success lately. Its crazy how versatile of a product 205 is. Love that stuff

    body shop friendly

I used whatever waxes I wanted when I worked in a body shop. I just avoided spray waxes. I would apply wax by hand or DA. Never had any contamination problems. Maybe Mike or another member that has a greater understanding of the chemical aspects of detailing in a body shop will chime in...

Nominations for "Best 50/50 Shot" of 2014

I need to buy a better camera. 2010 Maxima. Uber compound with Meguiars MF cutting pad. Then 205 with a tangerine hydro tech.

    body shop friendly

Dressings are going to be your main concern. As long as you aren't applying wax or sealant on their cars, you should be OK. Maybe avoid spray waxes and sealants though. If you are near where they do paint prep or bondo sanding, be prepared to be very frustrated every day. The dust gets on/in...

    How does he do it???

I'm glad Mike did that write up. Production work can look pretty good. One thing to keep in mind is, most people don't look at the paint like an ocd detailer. The tend to stand a long ways back and look at the bigger picture. I've only had a couple of customers get close and check paint from...

What are you going to detail this weekend?

2010 hair filled black Chevy Silverado. Interior is done. Exterior was polished with 205 and a hydro tech cutting pad. Just need to wax it & touch up a few minor things.

Optimum Giveaway! Chance to win Carpet & Fabric Cleaner & Protectant...

Onr is my favorite. I get my hands on a lot of nasty Iowa farm vehicles. I'd like to see how it performs and do a review

Should you be able to see an auto body shops color blend?

They should have painted the whole hood, especially if its pearl white.

    Business Insurance Company Suggestions

I have West Bend Mutual & am in my 1st year of business. I got it through an independent agent. He did a good job convincing them to insure me based on the fact that I had 10+ years prior experience in the industry.

    Rent for your shop

I work from home. Works fine except for full size trucks and SUVs. I have a car wash two blocks from my house also, which is nice

    Dashboard problems

Did you clean first with an APC and then dress it?

Noob warning; are these scratches too deep?

I'd get some clear and build it up, then wet sand and polish. It won't be perfect, but it will take a good eye to catch it.

    Untapped source?

Auctions have their own detailing staff. Generally only dealers can buy cars at most auctions. You might be able to pick up some dealer clients at the auction though. Most dealers get the car detailed after they buy it at the auction because it is a low quality detail it receives there.

    Untapped source?

Almost every car needs claying and polishing, the service we agreed on is what i stated. Sometimes I give them a claying and zip around it with an AIO or polish and spray wax for free out of appreciation for their business. I'd love to do high end detailing to all of them, but I'm not in the...

    Untapped source?

Yep. Go after credit unions. I repossessed cars for over a year. Some credit unions have silent auctions on repossessed vehicles and the vehicle sits on their property until a certain date. They get them cleaned up, so they can bring a higher price. If a reserve is not met, the car goes to...
