How far is it split. I know that they come with the glue recessed so you can use the edge of the pad. Possibly that is what you are looking at?

if you ever try squezzing the shmitt you'll see ton's of foam come out of it, its like foam on control. I did get a chance also to see this new lake country mitt, i think they were a little off naming it what they did, used the yellow one, some love bugs are still stuck in between the squares...
